Highly recommended. Excellent documentary on the Channel Islands during the war, interestingly telling the story from both sides. I have watched it several times and good to see it again.

Great film. My parents lived on Guernsey during the occupation. It was nice to see footage of those times.

Been to both islands twice . Fist time in '93 and the 2nd time in 2011 where i bought myslef a German steel helmet in a private museum that is a bunker . I like the monolithic structures and its Brutalist style . It stood the test of time. They are monuments now to obsessed German over engineering .

Thanks for your comment - you are totally correct, the brutalist style makes them unlike any other surviving WW2 relics in the British Isles. We enjoyed filming there back in 2001 and even now when we go back its amazing how unchanged the structures are!

I understand there was an investigation on collaborators on Jersey. The results were placed in a 100 year file. I will be 90 years old in 2045. I want to read the file.

There's bound to be collaborators in every occupation - there's lots of stories we heard of people who had profited from the Germans being on the island be that openly through collaboration or through black market. But there were far more people just trying to get by and keep their heads down in islands where resistance was near impossible. Thanks for watching!

Your on a rock, 9 miles long by 5 miles wide. One in four is an armed invader. But conspiracy theories are always hatched by those who don't have to survive.

The head of the Gestapo in Jersey was interviewed after the war and was asked if ever tortured anyone to get information to which he replied. "No I only had to open my mail every morning To know exactly what was going on in this island.😮

The NAZIS claimed the Gestapo were never in the Channel Islands. As the Island's were a Festung, so it was the Gehime Feldpolizie , carried out such duties. Though as people who had dealings with them have told me, there was much difference.
