Thank you for covering a neglected subject. Perhaps you do conscription, basic training, and discipline in the IJA.

Thank you! I love learning about the IJA. If you have any insight unto the role of the kempeitai and their jurisdiction in the Japanese military I’d love to learn about that too. Thanks again
@General-History101
@General-History101 2 жыл бұрын
Kenpeitai were just Japanese army secret police (like military intelligence) and their jurisdiction was pretty much everywhere the Japanese army was. They could not however, arrest naval officers etc or politicians or whatever as they only held influence in the army.

@@General-History101 oh yeah! They had a broad reach of influence that I'm trying to comprehend. They seem to be somewhat like an NKVD officer though also MP. I'm hoping to find out more about their infrastructure and how they were thought of by the branches of the military.

Yeah i think the best comparison would be a toned down NKVD officer

Very good video, but could you add Kanji to the titles? Your pronounciation is very off (no blame for that, if I were to pronounce arabic ranks I'd botcher them too) and so as a non-native speaker of Japanese I don't know if for example the Chosa at 5:34 is actually Chusa 中佐 (which it is and you said), because Chu 中 means middle, which would make more sense than chosa (what you wrote), which could be 長佐 which is wrong but as a learner it sounds like a possibility. I was very confused, and had to look it up

Hi there, i’. Glad you enjoyed the video. I’m obviously not a speaker of Japanese haha and so yeah my pronunciation was off, though i tried to use google translate as a speaking guide it was a little unhelpful.
@PropagandalfderWeiße

@@General-History101 Google Translate is really bad at speaking any language and even more so with Japanese and translates Japanese (and Chinese) even worse, because Japanese is very context-sensitive and AI's don't get that haha

Very interesting nice video bro. And officially , under which rank in the IJA, can the officer be allowed to carried a sword and a pistol? Compared that to the western soldier ranking during the 18th to 19th century? Also do a military rank video on the Chinese National Revolutionary army during WW2.

I always wondered how they spoke when talking to each other, for expample if a soldier wanted to talk to his sergeant did the soldier said "Rikugun Gunso *Sergeant's name here!*" or "*sergeant's name here* Rikugun Gunso"!?

For the Captain, Lieutenant and 2nd Lieutenant you actually showed the ranks of Sergeant Major, Sergeant and Sergeant again. Same with the Warrant Officer, as you showed a Private First Class.
