It's likely he was brought in as a Reservist (been there myself re: the USAF 40 years ago). Then, as they ramped up for war; he rec'd more/more training; culminating in having everyone prepped in the 1938/1939 range. Target Date. September 1st, 1939.

It's really Sennheim in Alsace? Now, the name of this city is Cernay, in french (Sennheim is the german name and Sennà the alsatian name). It's a city next to mine (9km) but i don't know exactly where the camp was.

Yes it is sennheim, all foreign volunteers were trained here, at least initially. You should find some infirnation online

The officers and enlisted trained together, slept in the same Barricks when on post. They didn’t want any distinction between officers and enlisted, the idea was that you would have respect for your brother in arms, rank only mattered in the field.

Huge numbers of the SS divisions weren't German heck the SS division guarding Hitlers bunker till the end were all French men of the volunteer French SS division. There was even an SS division made up entirely of Balkan muslims. Quite the multi cultural force the SS were lul don't tell the neo nazis ^^
