Man, i have been gardening in Florida for a few years now. The weather and pests make gardening pretty tricky. If you have never gardened before, it does not come naturally.

There is a lot of timing, soil mixtures, composting practices, contamination issues (herbicide from mulch or hay), sunlight duration, which fluctuates with the different solstices throughout the year. Then pests is another ball game entirely. There is a lot of failures to be learned from before I would gamble my family's well-being on gardening.

If I can add anything is DO NOT DEPEND ON SOMEONE ELSE TO SAVE YOU, if and or when SHTF. I had a family member say I'm not worried or preparing I'll just go to your house ( personally i will take care of my kids and grandchildren before anyone else). Breaks my heart. In 8-hrs stores will be empty😱. Thanks for trying to wake up the sleepers. 🥰 We can only try.

Life can kick any of our tail feathers no matter what one thinks they know. Anyone thinking otherwise is playing a fool's game. No matter where you are. Funny story, or not so funny. I survived my childhood. In the country where you left the garage unlocked in case the neighbors needed a quart of oil or something, outdoors, camping. Went to a city, barely 20 years old, with a little one. A place where there are steel bars on lower floor windows. Yeah, sold my leather coat to get a northbound bus ticket home.
