About coloring the icons, they may do it the Samsung/pixel way, where the icon background takes the color you pick and the shapes/different colors from the icons are white

I feel like doing that would make no sense though, because when macOS Big Sur released they literally went out of their way to make macOS icons look like the iOS ones, so why would Apple just suddenly go back on that by changing the iOS ones and making them customizable? Apple Music already has a few automatically generated playlists based on your listening preferences as well as a roundup of your year. They’ve had it for about 3 or 4 years now and they are generally pretty good too.

An on device LLM requires a new tokenizer. Interestingly, if they develop a tokenizer and pair it with a lower functioning LLM this will actually help propel them to greater use as the data generated with a custom tokenizer will show apple how we actually integrate AI with our lives.

I recently switched to iPhone for the first time and I wish apple adds these features - skip a recurring alarm once - a number row in the keyboard - make both sheets of special characters different instead of requiring tapping and holding on keys to get more of keys when space already exists - control center option to toggle location

I don’t currently care one bit about AI integration. I have yet to see even one instance where it’s legitimately useful for me. Hope to be proven wrong. Tbh the notes update on iPad is the most intriguing rumour to me. As a student I take all my notes on my iPad, and I’ve been looking for a reason to ditch Notability. If Apple can get good math integration and stuff in the notes app, that might be enough to get me to switch. All that said though, the thing I’m actually EXCITED for is gaming news for the Mac. GPTK last year was an amazing turn of events and has MASSIVELY improved windows game compatibility. I’m hoping for (although not really expecting) an announcement of similar weight. Maybe Apple will buy a game studio, maybe they will make a more consumer-facing form of GPTK, maybe they’ll have a big exclusive to announce, there are lots of ideas (most of them unrealistic 😅) and I’m interested to see what will actually be announced.

Yea, so three main thing I nEED (more like 4) 1. OS stability: both iPadOS and iOS have been full of bugs for me since I got my iPhone and iPad almost two years ago. It sucks, some third party apps like KZbin are so slow and stuttery to use compared to Android. Yuck! I hate them. (Just right now the text that I’m writing from my iPhone is for some reason stuttering up and down every letter that I type WHYYY???) 2. Files and images: Android also does this so well. Why are photos not files in iOS? Why can’t I have more than one hidden folder? Why is the files app always opened in recent instead of my folders? It honestly sucks and it’d be great if they made both the files and photos app more functional. 3. Horizontal support. I don’t even feel like arguing in favor of this. A mobileOS feels incomplete without it. Also, a redesign of notifications center on horizontal while watching a video or whatever is heavily needed. When not having any notifications it just shows the clock and it looks awful. (The iPhone autocorrected clock to cloaca for no reason) :| 4. Predictive text: despite Apple saying that it is so much better in iOS 17 it totally sucks balls and ass. The “Back” arrow sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t, and in general the phone seems to have never learned my “intentional misspellings” slurs, insults and regional words. Also, it is so annoying to start typing complete and utter gibberish because my keyboard was set to English when I was typing in Spanish. More like a bilingual problem I know but we really need smart “keyboard language change” based on our app, the first words typed or who we are writing for. Anyways, iOS has tons of stupid stuff that doesn’t work but should and this are just the ones off the top of my head. I really wouldn’t care that much for AI whatever bullcrap if iOS was just a better OS in general. Great video! Have a great day.

You can customize both portrait and landscape with an iPad. After you add your apps and customize the layout, rotate the iPad and then move them where you want them in the other orientation. It’ll hold both separate layouts every time you rotate your screen. As far as trying to use completely different apps and widgets on either, I’ve not attempted that.

Apple's in-house llms are not very good compared to small open source models. That being said, I think apple is in the best position to integrate AI with their operating systems. The pipe dream is an AI that can generate and run shortcuts or applescrips on the fly.

You can already customize the home screen of an iPad for each orientation in iOS 17. You have to configure the app icons/widgets for each orientation, and then those layouts will be respected when rotating the iPad.
