Yukes developed the games before and after, and 2K actually acquired the licence in January 2013 just 2-3 months after WWE ‘13 came out.

Wrong it was developed by Yukes, THQ never developed any of these games they were just the publisher. Yukes developed every game from the first smackdown through to 2k18 the only thing that changed was the publisher from tHQ to 2K. Developer didn't change until 2k19 when 2K also started developing the games.

This is in my top 3 for sure and I’ve played them all. Being 36. The n64 wcw games I have the most nostalgia for and I loved the smackdown games. Not really being hooked on a wwe game since the first svr game. I got 2k14 in my mid 20s and was in love. The 30 years of wrestlemania and universe mode with that amazing roster was so good.

Yukes leftovers, Yukes were the developers, THQ never developed anything or wrote a single line of code, they were just the publisher, aka the person who advertises/markets it and uses their connections ot get it onto store shelves. Yukes were the programmers of every smackdown game from smackdown 1 through to WWE 2k18

The community creations for this game on the PS3 were so good and the online was free. You didn't have to buy PS plus you didn't have to buy an Xbox live card. You didn't have to do anything. It was free out of the box and you could download any character you wanted. And they had everybody.

I loved 2k14 first game I played online my issue with it is too many reversals like I would do a move then it gets reversed then I will reverse the reversal. I wish I can go back to these good old 2k14 online days without the hackers and corner spammers lol. 2K19 was goated you tripping dude. Everybody went back to 2K19 because of how bad 2K20 was on top of that 2K19 servers lasted till June of 2022 that tells you good a WWE 2K19 is. 2K19 is up there with 2K14 as one of the best WWE2K games. THQ developed 2K14 2K just brought the rights and changed the name from WWE 14 to WWE2K14. Both WWE 2K14 and WWE 2K19 are two of my favorites and best WWE games ever made!

My guy, you need to play some fighting games, you would love love them. The way you talk about wrestling makes me immediately go, “ he would love fighting games.” There are video essays online about why it’s so awesome, I suggest you look at them. My best pitch to you is It’s like wrestling, it seems stupid and hard to get into at first but once in clicks, it is one of the best things in the world. Like street fighter six is coming out in a couple of days. If not weeks, it’s a really good time to get into it. I would suggest watching some core A gaming videos and other fighting game essays online as it’s a good idea of what you’re getting into. you won’t see me in streetfighter six as I will be playing skullgirls, but you got to give it a shot. Also ultrakill will give you an even better feign then both 2k and fighting games (on some level).

I play fighting games all the time. Mortal kombat, street fighter, teller, killer instinct, king of fighters, neo geo, virtua fighter, injustice, all of em. It’s wrestling games to me are an interesting addition to the genre and I kinda wanted this to be the first fighting game I cover. Also I looked into that ultra kill game. Once I get the right tools, I might do a vid on it.

I think 2K14 was also the peak in terms of the creation suite (and I already think WWE games have the best creation in video games). You had CaW mode with all the stuff you could do there along with 100 slots, you had create an arena, create a finisher, logo designer, titles, and even story designer. Some of these still haven't returned. I especially liked logo creator because I don't need to worry about some outside website that'll eventually go do like with the uploader they have now. I mean, as a feature, it's great, but if you wanna play an old game, then you're just fucked. Also, despite all the cool additions in 2K19 (my most recent one), I still think 14 has a better CaW mode just because of actual body sliders that allow for some fun exaggeration as well as 4 costumes per character and no/less annoying and arbitrary restrictions. Community Creations was also more fun because you didn't have the annoying rank system and download limit. Last thing I really liked was the jukebox because it meant you could just upload whatever person's music or use whatever else for like if you're making non-wrestlers/fictional characters.

I disagree, personally I thought THQ was so bad at making WWE games, I mean, the older Smackdown games were really good, but by 2k14 I was so burnt out on their wrestling games every year, 2k at least gave us a nice 2 year break to try and improve the engine, and gameplay, animations, etc. IDK if any of you remember how THQ would constantly promise things and never deliver, these guys were using the same team across different console generations, and over the years it became really evident that even the devs were starting to get burnt out, and weren't using the consoles to their full potential. I'm not blaming Yukes either btw, making a wrestling game is very complex.

Id say its better than most 2K games including 2K19 and 2K22 but I dont know about 2K23. Nostalgia aside, 2K23 has a complete Career Mode, Improved MyGM, Great Gameplay, Great Graphics, Great Roster, Heavily Improved Universe Mode (playing Superstar Mode is actually fun now). As much as I love 2K14 I have to put Nostalgia Goggles aside and say 2K23 is the Best of the 2K Series. 2K14 had Story Creator and No Microtransactions though so I could see some of the Arguments for 2K14.

i had both 13 and 2k14 and i think 13 was better imo. i feel like 13 had a better roster even the divas. there are cool things removed from 2k14 that you can do in 13 like making a custom entrance video and even editing a superstars entrance attire (if they wear extra stuff other than their ring gear). i did notice the slightly better graphics and textures but other than that gameplay was the same except for how they walk in match. after finishing 30 years of wm i was bored. not that many features either. and the roster is kinda boring too. overall theyre both good but 13 is better.
