For a minute, I thought they tried to animate the move how old man Rock did it in the early 2010s, but even that version cleared his opponents with a two-footed jump, not that '1,2 skip-to-my-lou' step over the opponent used in the 2k games. Not sure what happened there

Triple H dared Rock to do it on TV and he did, and that's how The People's Elbow came to be.

One thing I appreciate from playing no mercy to playing 2k20. People would stay down on finishers, on no mercy they would get up before you. Also no mercy worm was bad, the whole movement was done by taunting and the actual move was just the chop. So the enemy could get up during the taunt if not in mentally and physically cripple state

Not only did the People's Elbow look genuinely electrifying pre SvR 2011, but SvR 2006 had a better face for the Rock in Create a Wrestler mode than any of the seventh gen exclusive games. Don't know how they got that much worse with a straight up hardware upgrade. Talk about lazy

It's funny how the People's Elbow looks worse the better the technology available to developers. The crowds get larger and character models get more realistic, but the rings seem to get smaller and the animations just nosedive. As primitive as it looks in 2021, WWF No Mercy is still the game for me.

If you played on Playstation, like I did, you'd notice they used the same Peoples Elbow animation from 2001, Just Bring it to SVR 11', and that one was worst. Then they used the same one from SVR' 11, to 2k18. 2k18 version is the same they used in 2k19, and 20 cause it finally looks like the proper animation of what he does, and how he jumps from rope to rope. The move is also looks better on other platforms which is weird cause, these games were all made by the same company!

The older games got pretty close, while the 2k series (until 2k18) has the worst animation. 2k18-2k20 is not bad, but not as close as the older set of games. The Rock performed the move with more speed and momentum (and general excitement), which is the difference between the older games and 2k18-20. Before 2k18, they had him doing a one, two step over the opponent, instead of jumping clearning the opponent with both feet. In 2k18-2k20, he's not really using the rope for momentum and looks robotic. Maybe that's what The Rock looked like when he returned to face CM Punk and John Cena, but prime Rocky was zooming on those ropes

My fav one is Here Comes The Pain. 2K18-20 would have been the best if the Rock had more emotions to it before dropping the elbow and notice he shakes his arms a bit prior to throwing the elbow which is absent in 2K18-20, these all are surprisingly there in Here Comes The Pain. However, the graphics of these three years (2K18-20) definately seem more realistic giving it a more realistic view as if you are watching them on the TV show but still the graphics of Here Comes The Pain are somewhat realistic to some degree mixed with a low quality yet loveable 3D animation making it a lot enjoyable. The worst is WWE All Stars, he doesn't even run back and forth! →_→
