This is solely from my own observations while playing MyGM, but I believe rivalries tend to be more likely to start/escalate if the match rating is good. Match ratings mostly stem from average popularity of the wrestlers involved, matchup synergy (cruiser/giant is best, bruiser/fighter second best, specialist/anybody last resort) and of course special matches (tables, etc.) and title matches also give match ratings a boost. Once the rivalry is started, matches are far more likely to escalate because the rivalry itself adds to the match rating. Callouts are the most reliable way of starting, but they aren't 100% and I'd try to use someone with at least a promo skill of 3 to kick things off. All my way of saying having a few wrestlers with high pop (60s or high 50s) at the outset really matters, especially getting your initial rivalries kicked off if you're playing a 15 week season. This is also why Smackdown as a brand is really OP as having a card to give six of your superstars get +6 pop right off the bat is a huge boost over any other brand.

Here's what you can do if someone goes ivertime. If Player 1 goes overtime then Player 2 has the choice of subtracting that time. ANYTIME. ANY PLACE. ANY EPISODE OR They can choose to use the time for themselves if they are going overtime.
