Brian, I know you probably won't read this, but the reason I would personally prefer Shane is that he treats his employees were very well. He creates a friendly environment that is relaxed, sourced by multiple wrestlers talking about him. Another reason is that he is a crowd-pleaser, with his big spots, so he would attempt to please the crowd with his booking, even though it may not be financially advantageous. Plus, the booking in the last year has been so bad that any change would make the product fresher, that's what the fans and I want.

+Zair TheBear That sums up why most of us want to see Shane running the company. I think it was on Whatculture Wrestling where it was stated that Shane was really appreciated, and, of all the McMahons, he's the one you wanna work with. That being said, that gives us, as fans, confidence. We know that he's gonna be careful with the talents, and hey, he had some great ideas in the past so, let's give him another try.

Shane wanted to buy UFC when it was affordable and Vince said it would be too much like the WBF and said no. Look what happened to UFC since then. Oh, and when ECW returned, Shane wanted it to be an old school, internet only show, and Vince said no, and look what happened. Also, wrestlers have stated he is the best and most personable of the McMahons to work with. Annddd, he's the most tolerable of the McMahons on the mic and in the ring. Need any more justification?

+FamilyofSlenderman This right here. We don't exactly know where UFC would have gone in McMahon hands but if they had bought it it would have limited the competition. Over the past several years, they've overtaken WWE in PPV buys and beat them to the punch to a service just like their WWE Network.

Regarding Shane he seems to have had great ideas for the company that make me really wish some of them came to fruition. He wanted ECW to be exactly like old school ECW and wanted it as an internet only show. He has a good vision for business as at one point he begged Vince to buy UFC back then which would have been interesting. He is generally liked by the boys back stage which is always good and once heard environment is positive around him. IDK i"ll take him over Vince

Bakir I agree with everything u said 100% Shane just brings a more diverse way of doing things. Of all the Mcmahons he's the only one that could pull off being a face or heel and still be liked by the fans,stephanie is a smart business woman but too me her heel runs wear thin on me personally im not just saying now but even back then I think she over plays being the bicth too much its boring after awhile. On a personal note I think Steph is more like her father I dont think she's a person people dont like in real life but I've heard stories that sometimes she's not the nicest person in world plus in today's pg era she barely if ever takes bumps

And he legitimately loves the fans I think. He is the SON of Vince. He could have skated by without doing anything. Or been like Steph or Vince with VERY limited appearances in the ring. But that is not what he did. He did crazy spots most wrestlers would refuse. He performed insane stunts and was beaten up and punished terribly in the ring and he didn't even have to. That tells me he does care about putting on an amazing show the fans love.

Shane showed that he has some business knowledge, like for example, he wanted his dad to buy UFC when UFC wasn't yet a big thing, he saw that UFC had potential, but he got ignored, UFC might not have become what it is today had the McMahon's bought it, but it's still worth noting that Shane saw the potential that UFC had. There were other businesses he suggested buying, that were also ignored, but can't remember what those were right now, without doing a search. Don't forget also that he is who launched WWE.com which helped the Network a whole lot and that he is also the person that made deals with international partners that would help WWE become the international brand that it is today.

+pdragon619 that angered me too.. but that doesn't take away from them both selling well.. it just means wwe wanted roman to look stronger.... and they made him look that way.. but aj did win twice.. maybe he'll get the title next ppv.
@RiriStar10208 жыл бұрын
It's the Dolph Ziggler school of Ring Psychology, 1 wrestler throws multiple finishers at the other and gets 80-90% of all the offense in, then the other guy hits 1 finisher gets the win, the winner "looks strong" cause he was tenacious and never gave up, the loser is supposed to "look strong" cause he hit so many moves against his opponent. Though more often then not the loser ends up looking like a joke after the fact that couldn't get the job done. (not even saying this is the case for this match, just that this is my takeaway from it.)
@pdragon6198 жыл бұрын
brrnay Not really, selling is making a move look like it actually hurt and was effective, kicking out of multiple finishers in a row and then immediately getting back up and hitting your finisher is the opposite of selling. And yeah AJ technically won twice, but he "won" twice in ways that are actually losses. The first time he failed to break the count or get Roman back into the ring with him, and then the second time he got low blowed. Neither of these "victories" make Styles look strong or competent, and in fact if the match hadn't been restarted they would have been considered massive failures because he didn't get the title. And the fact that AJ got two restarts, 5 finishers, and outside interference and STILL couldn't put down Reigns makes him look like a total chump. Like he could have shot Roman with a fucking shotgun at that point and it wouldn't have mattered. It makes him look like Sandow trying to cash in on Cena and failing miserably. How are people going to take AJ seriously as a contender for the title when we already know that he literally is not strong enough to put Reigns down with any of his moves and then some?
@iortizjunior8 жыл бұрын
+slashrasile well in this case it's more believable bc Roman is almost twice AJ Style's size. His finisher should be deadly. This is coming from a huge Styles fan.
@brrnay8 жыл бұрын

From what I understand about Shane, he originally had to the idea to buy UFC over a decade ago when it was just getting off the ground, and Vince ignored him, he had ideas on how to make ECW cool again by making it an adult oriented internet show, like ROH is now and Vince ignored him. He seems to have a lot of "ahead-of-their-time" ideas and Vince keeps ignoring him and losing money as a result, plus most former WWE talent will tell you that it's not just his character that's likable, it's the actual man himself, as he's usually the only McMahon who is universally beloved backstage. I don't know if he could run Raw better though, but that's why I think a lot of people want him running the show more than Stephanie.

I don't know why, but I expect Baron Corbin to have a rematch against Ziggler on Extreme Rules. If I was booking him in this feud after that loss, I'd have him hunt Ziggler around for the entirety of this Raw with Ziggler just barely escaping in his car. Then the following week we have Ziggler jumped in the locker room, where he gets beaten down badly. Ziggler doesn't wrestle for Smackdown and for Raw, as we work the injury he may or may not have sustained, but the Raw after that he re-appears and tries to get payback on Corbin, only for people to break it up. On Smackdown they have a re-match, but Corbin just destroys Ziggler again, pulling him in the crowd as Ziggler's coming out. On Raw it gets announced that they will have a falls count anywhere match at Extreme Rules and Ziggler is excited, but at the same time has this odd tick where you can tell he's a bit scared. On Smackdown he is roaming the backstage area with a chair/club/kendo stick as protection and has a confrontation with Corbin, who also has a weapon, the two clash right as the commercials begin. Post-commercials we have a replay of what happened. We see them fighting around the backstage area, only to be seperated again. You make Dolph look strong, you make Corbin even stronger, because not only does he not run away, but he fights at a stand-still before the match. Then at Extreme Rules you have Corbin destroy Dolph in a creative way somewhere in the building (bring back the boiler roooooom!) After that I would have Corbin feud with Sandow, because Damien needs something to do and he'd be good pray for the biker. Also I would give BC a bike to come out on. If he can't drive, then get him lessons. Have 'Taker help the guy out. Pass the torch behind the scenes.

I thought the main event was enjoyable wrestling wise which I was NOT expecting because we all seen Reigns winning. But Adam Blampied had a great point for the ending, it's like they DIDN'T swerve us TO swerve us in a way. Everyone thought Bullet Club was gonna attack AJ because they made it look painfully obvious these last few weeks and even AJ's "I don't need them. Yes we are friends but it's about ME tonight" all for a messy run in and to be swept away into obscurity. Maybe they will do it at Extreme Rules? Also the Enzo thing while looking weak in slowmo, looked damn scary in full speed. Crazy how the camera man got all close showing his "fish out of water" style struggle-breathing while he was knocked out, not knowing if he had broken his neck or not and not being responsive even filming him into the ambulance where he still wasn't responding until a little later. Classy. Isn't that also similar to how the guy Mysterio wrestled died? Whiplash from the rope?

I've been so critical of WWE lately, but that was the best PPV I've seen for years!! The match quality was incredible and I loved the intensity of the main even. Not as fast paced as many of the others but the psychology was outstanding and they both came out looking strong. Owens and Zayn was a 5 star match and their feud has been handled perfectly with the ultimate babyface vs the ultimate heel. My only real complaint was having the McMahons taking up time. That sort of stuff should be left to RAW and doesn't belong on a PPV....although I did appreciate the CM Punk chants. But on the whole I thought they did a great job and hopefully this is how this "new era" will continue.

To give perspective Shane isn't "better" he's just "different" we kinda need a babyface approach to how things are run for a little while as we've had the heel approach for so long..( almost a decade) With the both of em in charge we "kinda" get this" the thing is it's a careful dichotomy good in control makes the heel moments sting all the harsher.. and that's whyI personally like Shane in control, it allows the heels and their actions really get some heat and lets the baby faces have a chance not to look dumb, but as soon as we switch back then the babyfaces can look strong .( if carefully played) Too much of one angle for too long= burnout. You don't have to do dangerous and stupid high spots to make the product interesting and make the fans and smarks care you just have to very carefully switch things up every now and again to grab the people's attention.. this is how this new PG era can thrive....and I hope Vince does not screw this up.

On the Stephanie McMahon vs Shan O' Mac matter: You mentioned 2 reasons why the fans might seem to have a desire to see Steph step aside for Shane. But what you didn't mention (which popped in my mind as perhaps the real reason)was the fact that fans are fatigued with Stephanie's direction of the organization. Triple H seems to somehow avoid that same level of heat but I think it's because he's simply not around a lot of the time when she's making on screen decisions. The fans want something more and I'm not sure they really know WHAT they want but I can tell you it is NOT what Stephanie McMahon is giving them. Shane represents a refreshing attempt to invigorate he WWE brand with interesting bookings, new concepts, and better storylines with better characters. Time will tell if Shane is up to the tall task, but simply put, it's creative fatigue that's spoiling Steph for the fans

Shane has always been known as a guy who everyone says the love to work with. Shane was very vocal about his difference of opinion with pg era and his dislike of certain things. While Steph and HHH were vocal they kinda also go with the flow. Shane is a guy who I think is likeable but I think he comes off as a more relatable guy. Tho he hasn't been involved with creating storylines but he has been involved in progression and and opinions on the outcome. His willingness to crazy things not only to himself but also crazy unexpected spots to WWE in both promos and matches is why I want Shane and I think that's why others like him too

On the Shane vs. Stephanie bit..most of the people are commenting on the "characters" of the two and, as you say, that's completely and utterly ridiculous. As for who would actually be better in charge, it's a pointless debate for one over the other because the fans are much more diverse now. Some people like the "big guys", I, like many others find them pretty boring. Some people are all about mic skills, some people are all about technical ability, some people want the show to be more realistic, some prefer suspending belief. Some are more in to the nostalgia some are bored of it. No matter what and who you book, people will praise and people will criticize. Over all, I believe Stephanie (with the help of Paul in her corner) will be better at booking the long drawn out story lines, but I do believe that Shane is a bit better under pressure to come up with something when something goes wrong such as when an injury occurs or a contract negotiation goes south.

I think the reason people prefer Shane to Stephanie is a lot simpler. Shane was gone so long and all we had was Stephanie and a badly ageing Vince so when he returned of course the fans would take his side as it's a breath of fresh air

Honestly the way the whole Owens/Zayn and Miz/Cesaro match blended together was the best thing about the show. I heard a Vince Russo podcast where he was talking about intertwining stories and he was right, it made the title match mean more aand continued a fued. Russo may talk crap sometimes but he knows what he's talking about sometimes. Although the word bro every 3 seconds sucks.

As for why people think Shane would do a better job, several former WWE talents have said Shane was the most respectful and level headed McMahon to work for. In terms of business, he's suggested making several moves that got ignored. He wanted to buy ECW in '99 and got ignored. He wanted to buy UFC in 2000, and got ignored. Meanwhile, Vince was working on the XFL and WWF New York, both of which were colossal failures (total loss of about $100 million). ECW could have been saved by WWE money and UFC would explode shortly afterwords. You can argue if that's enough to qualify him for the position, but that's what a lot of people point to.

Enzo Amore hit his head on the part of the mat with the least amount of padding. I was not surprised that he got a concussion. But I am glad that it was not too serious. I am glad that he didn't die from it. He hit the part of the mat with just some wood underneath.

I agree with your analysis of the Ambrose-Jericho match, it did feel like it went long but I have a feeling that was to cover up for the lost time from the Enzo injury. All the other matches seemed to be appropriately timed out, which makes me think they took that extra time and tacked it onto Ambrose-Jericho

Floki the boat builder is a reference to the History Channel show Vikings. Floki is friggen nuts, and uses a lot of hallucinogens to "talk" to the gods. so JBL came up with a new way to call Ambrose crazy. i'm a big fan of Vikings, so that line got a pretty good chuckle out of me.

I feel like the reason people like Shane being in charge is the desperation for something different. People are upset with the way the company is(was) being run and so at first sight of someone different being in charge that they remotely like they latch onto. I think we all realize that even though he's in charge on screen he's not actually working creative backstage (which maybe he's helping, who knows) but Raw has been FANTASTIC in my opinion since the Raw after 'Mania. They're giving new guys a chance, they're trying with the IC title, bringing up a ton of favorites from NXT, and all around they seem to acknowledge the problems they're having except what to do with Roman's character (but I want to see where they go with it; they can't ignore it forever).

Although I disagree with your joy over the main event, you made me look forward to Extreme rules rematch. As I was watching last night I couldn't wait for your report as, at least to me, your review has become almost as important as the show itself so, as always thank you for that. I do have one question though. When do you think they will pull the trigger and give Cesaro a push that last longer than a week or two? I'm still waiting for the Andre the Giant battle royal winner (any of them as a matter of fact)to do something worthwhile. But especially Cesaro who would be a believable character to conquer a title or two. Also I want to meet you someday because you freakin rock! Blessings.

From what I've heard about the whole Shane vs. Stephanie thing, Shane is extremely well-liked backstage. While Stephanie is an apple that fell pretty close to Vince's tree, Shane is widely viewed as someone who' treats the wrestlers like equals. Whether or not that makes him the most qualified is debatable, but that may explain why Shane is viewed as "the man of the people." Even Jim Cornette has referred to Shane as his favorite McMahon.

I think as far as cheering Shane it is telling the company that we like the new direction they are going. If you noticed this was about the first PPV where every face got cheered and every heel got booed even though the crowd was smarky as fuck. Its our way of telling them we are happy with what we are getting right now.

Completely agree with you on the Shane-Stephanie debate. I just can't understand why people feel Shane's a better guy to run the place. The biggest problem that I have with the situation is that the new era that Shane has supposedly started in the WWE is being spear-headed by guys from NXT that Triple H was responsible for bringing in and everyone's just supposed to pretend like it was all Shane's idea.
@jamiemaclean57778 жыл бұрын
I'm not going to have a rant about what he said about Steph and Shane but the reason why people think he would be better as gm is that many superstars have come forward and said that Shane was the best boss to work for and Shane also had the idea to buy ufc when it was really cheap compared to what it is now so that sorta shows that Shane would be a good gm
@clintdeangelis51058 жыл бұрын
the trick is that HHH and Stephanie are seen as the establishment, especially since HHH is still active talent. On top of that, HHH's rep is one of burying others, so that adds to why the people cheer Shane rather than Stephanie.
@Baldilocks888 жыл бұрын
A part of Shane being preferred is the strong relationships and respect he has within the locker room. Now this isn't a driving point, there are many other factors, but for many years the locker room has felt pretty threatened and often dislike Stephanie. That's one factor at least and he'd likely be a little more fair to overlooked wrestlers, or at least do what's best for them rather than just forget them.
