Highly unlikely in which that would be the case, but they would literally just cover the rink up with tiles like pretty much every rink does during the on-season, so the only work would just be the ring and stage, not freezing/painting the rink again...

There isn't just one expense for building the arena... For massive buildings like those, there is huge expenses for staff, upkeep, taxes, and utilities... It is much cheaper and easier to schedule around each other and pay for change crews than to build an entire stadium for one team to use for 7 months out of the year...
