And at like Survivor Series if Finn does beat Rollins then in comes Damian Priest to swerve both Rollins and Bálor. So maybe it was a good thing Seth won

I think Jimmy betraying Jey makes some sense. It wasn’t like Jimmy attacked Jey and tossed him in ring for Roman. It wasn’t like Jimmy gave Roman a wink or some acknowledgment. Jimmy ruined it for Jey and left. Roman looked confused afterwards, he wasn’t in on this. The story is likely going to be Jimmy being upset that Jey chased the tribal chief title twice now as a solo act, thinking he’s better because he’s “Main event”. The USO’s were always a team but Jey wants to be his own man. It’s about jealousy. Roman’s going to move onto a program with Solo since they’ve already hinted at conflict. These 4 are going into their own separate stories. Makes sense to me.

Difference between SummerSlam 2022 and 23 is that 22 was great mostly because of the main event between Brock and Roman, while 23 had great matches, the main event caused chaos and the whole crowd started F chants

I’m not sure if it came off differently on camera, but I was live in attendance for SummerSlam, and I have to say it was a fantastic event from that point of view. The crowd was electric all night, with the exception of the Rhonda versus Shana Match. The triple threat women’s championship match came off as exciting and entertaining to the live crowd, and was just elevated even more by the cash in. And the tribal combat match, ending included, was fantastic. I think people unrealistically had high expectations for surprise appearances only because of last year. But you have to remember last year was the first major PLE that triple H was in charge of, and he wanted to bring back all of his favorites that Vince got rid of prior. This year is not the same case . Again, I’m not sure if it just came off differently on camera, but as far as being there live, I walked away, extremely excited and satisfied.

Triple H said Brock Lesnar went off script when he shook Cody's hand so I feel like that was a real moment where the real Lesnar respected Cody. It wasn't planned so that might be why it seems like something weird considering Lesnar was just terrorizing him for weeks. Plus it was a kinda cool moment and a fitting end to their rivalry even if it didn't make much sense.

Honestly, I'm confused to see the same reactions to Jimmy's betrayal. It's not really surprising. Jey became "Main Event" Jey because of Jimmy's injury. In Jimmy's mind, Jey wasn't there for him when he was hurt. It's not about the spotlight being stolen because Jimmy might not even want it, but Jey chose to chase the title instead of taking care of his brother. Twice.

There was this one specific narrative in the Bloodline where Roman told Jey that Jimmy dragged him down all this time bcs he didn't want Jey to go up,to be the next tribal chef . I think they wanna go back to that and explore that narrative and see where it takes them . We can potentially see Solo merging with Jey against Roman and Jimmy . One way or another I think Jimmy will seek redemption from his Tribal Chief and fall back in line , because he proved himself by helping Roman retain his position as the head of the table , serving as Roman's right hand man , something Jimmy was never considered to be , bcs it was Jey all this time .

Wasn't a big fan of Super Cena and wasn't a big fan of Cody Rhodes 'finish the story' angle but I am kind of digging Rhodes atm. This match with Brock was good and it told a good story about how Cody is destined to beat Roman at WM40. What sucks is how predictable and non-creative the Bloodline angle is becoming just for Roman vs Cody to happen at WM40. They should just end the Bloodline angle now. Let Roman and Paul Heyman be a solo act now.

I second that ! Dissolve the bloodline. Let them run into each other at times, but dissolve it. This will many good things. Jey and Jimmy can get some focus, Solo can get a nice solo run feud. Roman can gain some credibility back if he wins matches on his own. And lastly, other upcoming factions will get some screen time. Like the Judgement days' possible split, PC vs New Hurt Business storyline. Possibly Imperium vs Alpha Academy.

I actually really liked the Women's Triple Threat Match, almost solely because of the end. The beginning was slow fs, but Bianca and Charlotte were good enough at selling and performing. There were a lot of spots that had me actually confused as to who was gonna win when I came into the match thinking I could see the future. Some of the series of events, plus Bianca's brilliant acting, made me completely forget about Iyo Sky as ms. mitb, which made her theme hitting all the more crazy. However, Im worried about Sky's reign considering how early it is. The pop was great too though. In my own personal match ranking I had this, Logan Paul vs Ricochet and Finn Balor vs Seth Rollins at the top. Finn vs Seth, despite the picture-perfect spots, inspired story, great competitors, etc, left me feeling empty, exhausted and frankly annoyed. I love Judgement Day and don't want any of the members to split, especially not Finn, but he was straight up robbed out of that title. Sometimes the obvious winner is the best choice and I think this is one of those moments. Not to mention the stomp on the briefcase was such an obvious, basic heel move with an obvious turn to it. I much preferred how Finn wanted to win the title on his own and fairly the first time Priest tried getting involved during the match. The only thing I actually liked about Tribal Combat was how it's clearly trying to set up a Fatal Four Way between the Bloodline. It was utter chaos, which was great, but Jimmy betraying Jey felt off... weird. They're clearly only doing this to stretch the Bloodline story out as long as they can, stalling until Wrestlemania of next year. Overall, I actually thought Summerslam 2023 was one of my favorite things to come out of WWE since I started watching. I will say though, I only became a wrestling fan in December so please, if anyone reads this, don't hate me. I've watched every PPV since the 2023 Royal Rumble, nearly every week of Raw and Smackdown since, and I just really enjoyed this event; I feel like it delivered for me in almost every way I could've asked except maybe Finn failing to take the World Heavyweight title off Seth and atmosphere around the MMA rules match.

Highly disagree with the crowd interaction. I was there, and the crowd was going crazy. The only dead time was bayzler and Ronda. That killed the crowd, and I believe that Ford's field design of only using 3/4th of the stadium didn't help.

I was watching an interview with the USOs recently and they were saying they always wanted to face each other at Wrestlemania, so I believe thats the storyline we'll get with those two till WM 40. I believe this feud will make room for a potential Solo vs Roman feud next. I don't think those two will feud till WM tho. I still think it'll be Cody vs Roman

I thought that the triple threat match was fine but my biggest complaint was that the match lasted like 6 minutes to long and I think Drew vs Gunther would had benefited from that extra time. Roman vs Jey was actually pretty good until Solo came in and it immediately ruined the match for me man 😭 it just turned into a handicap match after that

I think the Drew match was perfectly booked. Having extremely short-term of Drew hype push Gunter to his limits would have been unfair to Gunter. We all knew Gunter was going to win to break the IC title record so why not have him win kinda convincingly so Drew can have his underdog story and t star match we all know the two are capable of at payback

The only reason I could think of for Jimmy turning on Jey is that Jimmy could be mad at him for is that when Jimmy got taken out by Roman & Solo, Jey immediately challenging Roman to a title match and saying he wants to be the tribal chief. Instead of saying he wants revenge on Roman for hurting Jimmy, Jimmy could say that Jey made it all about himself instead of trying to get retribution (no, not the Mustafa Ali kind). Also, Finn should have won since it would've felt great to see what could've happened between Finn and Priest since Finn would be champ and Priest as Mr. MITB.

heres the thing, jimmy uso isnt "siding with them" and is simply siding with himself because we CAN make the argument by saying that jimmy uso was basically jealous about the fact that jey was the one getting the spotlight because if we go back in time, the night that jey uso turned on roman reigns, paul heyman and even jimmy uso himself revealed that he didnt want jey as the tribal chief. in which this match is not only to declare who the undisputed wwe universal champion is, but to declare who the true tribal chief is. and if we go back in time again on smackdown a few weeks before night of champions, jimmy uso said "i am the tribal chief." so basically jey uso is taking his spot while being in this match. and to prove my point even further, when jimmy uso turned on roman, people were more focused on if jey is going to turn as well. meaning that jey is the one people care about the most, and jimmy uso is just a blur.

@@theharv1490 yes but let me make my case. They would have done Asuka dirty winning just to lose to iyo in the cash in. Bianca did not need the win. Just having Bianca come back after her injury and having her not take the fall would have been more than enough to keep and improve her reputation and "Super Bianca". Charlotte should have won because: 1. The amount of hate she would have got would have been electric 2. It would get her one title reign closer to beating her dad's record 3. The pop Iyo Sky would have got when she cashed in would have been insane and she would instantly become a mega fan favorite for taking the title of Charlotte

I just had a possible crazy idea. What if the elders strip Roman of being the Tribal Chief? No one was supposed to get involved in Tribal Combat. This would eventually lead to a fatal 4 way between Roman, Solo, Jimmy, and Jey at Survivor Series for the name of Tribal Chief.

Thank you! That’s what I was so upset about. It was so unnecessary to have Bianca win just to lose it when I thought Iyo was getting face reactions anyway. It would have been better for Asuka to retain and then have Asuka get cashed in on and have Iyo break away from Damage control so that Iyo can topple Asuka for the title and stand on her own. Then have Bianca win it back down the road because let’s face it. The narrative is about Bianca anyway.

I think the Jimmy interference was a really good twist, and it makes sense if he only did it for himself & not "for the family Uce!", but I guess we'll find out Friday. Also, while I did like Gunther vs Drew, and I breathed a huge sigh of relief when Gunther retained, it just didn't live up to the Triple threat or Sheamus match. Gunther coming out in red attire though was major mind games for the crowd, since historically wrestlers like Flair would wear it to symbolizes they were taking a big loss, which immediately had me very paniced. I feel like they were a little too slow and stuff with this match, they needed to just beat the piss out of eachother more lol. Overall: 8/10. None of the matches worth watching were terrible, but nothing was extraordinary, and the lack of a big return was also sad.

Glad Sky cashed in but I’m honestly a bit tired of SummerSlam cash ins. There’s been so many over the years because SummerSlam is the first major PPV/PLE after MITB. I miss lengthy runs with the briefcase as it can lend to intriguing storytelling. It’s just getting a bit predictable.

It’s literally what birthed Edge’s “ultimate opportunist” nickname. I wish they would tease cashing in on either world title to keep us guessing. Im surprised they still haven’t had someone hold it all year and be forced to cash in at the following years MITB because they’re out of time. They should have done that with Theory last year.

In my opinion summerslam this year was just a fine to ok ppv overall with some high and low points but it definitely lacked that “Big Event” feel like the summer version of Wrestlemania. The past international PPVs were a lot better this year. Now coming out of SummerSlam I think the WWE just has maybe 2 interesting storylines 1 being possibly Balor vs JD or balor vs priest and The bloodline and jimmy turning on jey. But there was not any big returns or unexpected surprises like in the past to keep the audience really interested in the fall/winter months of programming. I personally don’t think the Omos return, the Iyo cash in or the Jimmy USO involvement in the main event were really that surprising like I wasn’t surprised that Jimmy got involved in the Main event I was just shocked about the turn on his own brother
