And to add to this she started literally under the boat cleaning the bottom. Worked her way to the top from there. Showed admiral respect to her mentors. Now she is above the deck. That's great, i think her work ethic and the way shes got to her position is admirable. Unfortunately, over the seasons on the show, she has come off badly as a captain to specific crew, almost like a pattern of having it out for the chief stew, making broad assumptions and having double standards. I think thats why a lot of viewers respond badly to her now....

Reality shows may not be scripted per se, but they definitely have producers manipulating what happens and what is said. No studio is going to leave the entertainment aspect (and therefore their revenue) of their shows to “what will naturally happen”

I had stopped watching BD but when I saw BD Australia and BD Adventure I just had to watch! I hope they never stop making them. I absolutely love the two newest captains, Jason and Kerry. Besides Jason practically being every woman's dream man, he pitches in whenever and wherever needed, he's fair, super nice and polite as you can see here, but he's definitely firm when he needs to be. He genuinely cares about his crew. Captain Kerry is very similar. Super cool, pitches in, keeps his cool when someone's out of line but takes care of business. I wish we could see more of the adventures in BD Adventure because it's so amazing. I can't wait for seasons 2! I of course have to mention, Captain Sandy. She rocks. I love how she also pitches in, cares for her crew and isn't afraid to step in and point out things that need improving.

I worked in hotels from Oregon all the way to Palm Beach Florida I’ve checked in hundreds of famous people and could write a book on all of the things that I have seen. Far juicier than the white lotus. Below deck is awesome because I’ve dealt with all of these guests. But the white lotus is the best thing on TV right now .

There is a room with bunk usually just off the bridge for the captain. The film crew dont stay on the boat and sleep elsewhere and come back on early morning.

In another interview of these captains one said the camera crews switch out. One camera crew sleeps at a hotel while the other is in duty and vice versa.

Captain Lee easily dismissed people being racist and will always sympathize and give the perpetrators the benefit of the doubt, and Kate could tell a yachty she's not training her cause that would be a privilege that she wasn't granting even after the yachty asked Kate for her help. And what did Lee do? He supported Kate and accused the yachty of lying on her resume, which she did not. I used to like Lee, but he can kick rocks and keep having his wet dreams about Kate.

I looked at the sailing yacht floor plans there are two more cabins than shown in the show. Also in some other shows they have 1. &2. Mate/ engineer who don’t participate in the show. Sometimes the captains quarters and the higher officers are separated. So maybe there is some extra space as well
