WWII Bunkers Along the Siegfried Line (German Westwall)

In 1975 we also explored a large bunker complex on top of a forested hill that overlooked the Germany - Luxembourg border. Main entry was sealed off but we were able to gain entry through a small opening we found. Once inside we found rooms with light fixtures and a spiral staircase that went down at least 5 stories. There were hallways and numerous rooms, some contained gunpowder on the floors. Since we only had a single flashlight, we decided to get back to the surface and safety. If the flashlight quit on us we might never have found our way out. We were in the USAF stationed at Spangdahlem Air Base, near the city of Bitburg.
