Several years ago I was on my way by ferry from England to Normandie to attend another D Day anniversary, We got into a conversation with a small group of Ranger/ veterans, The one elderly gentleman was from Corpus Christy Texas and he told us how he was part of the assault force at Point Du Hoc, He was wounded early on in the fight and had to lay all day on the beach before he could be evacuated. He said he still had the bullet lodged in his body, We were privileged to shake this mans hand and say thank you, I would have liked to have given the same measure of gratitude to your Great Grandfather. You can blame that on the Naval commander of the Utah section Tank landing ships he as coming under fire and ordered the tanks launched way too early and far from the shore. Unlike the British Naval Commander who overrode orders and landed the British and Canadian tanks well within striking distance of the beaches.

Its because the m1 carbine is a pea shooter. Its widely regarded as one of the worst battle rifles the us ever issued.
@smasher.338
@smasher.338 4 жыл бұрын
@Robert Demon Its arguable. I would tend to agree with you only because audits of german field hospitals have no cases of troops being wounded or killed w 45s. But the 45 was almost exclusively a rear guard weapon for non combat troops and officers. If germans got behind the lines of American forces, very rarely did they have enough man power or resources to worry about casualties let alone set up a field hospital before they were pushed back again. The m1 carbine was made because most of the time rear echelon troops ONLY carried a 45, and this was made/issued so they would at least have something an average soldier could be accurate with more than 25 meters. Is it beter than a 45? Not at close distance, and at medium ranges... not by much lol.
@kal.50bmg32
@kal.50bmg32 4 жыл бұрын
And BTW: The M1 Carbine had a 15 rounds magazine.

@Robert Demon Thats one report on one mos. But i still agree with you unless we are talking about distance inside of 25 meters.
@connorolio
@connorolio 4 жыл бұрын
Robert Demon not really. The 45 is inaccurate over distance but it’ll stop someone dead in there tracks. The m1 carbines shot 30 cal pistol rounds at low velocity and therefore they had an unpredictable bullet pattern. M1 garand was great tho, 30-06 is a Perfect round

now russians make a nuclear power motor for nuclear heads..one is enough to destroy only 30 big towns ..30 nuclear heads on one rocket ..like iskander...but nuclear powered.motor..us dont have that......not to mention a iskander rockets or nuclear submarines...russia is no joke man...they have thousands of different nuclear rockets so there will be nobody alive in the us or in russia ...and radiation will kill rest of the world..

April 1st..Hmm is this a prank? Lol I could listen to these videos for hours and hours, I love the history behind all of the wars that have happened (Not to what happened to the people who have died due to the war but the history of the guns that have been invented to the smallest thing like the "cricket clicker" tool used by the Air-Born troops that dropped behind enemy lines) I could go on for hours and hours. It's sad that most of the World war 2 vets are slowly passing away. All of the stories that could have been told and made into movies or books. The one story I like is about the U.S pilot that alway had his trumpet with him and when he was in enemy territory a young German sniper was hiding watching him. So the U.S pilot played a German love song for the lonely sniper because he probably had a girl in Germany that he was fight for and in the morning the sniper turned him self in and wanted to find out who played that song. Sadly they both never got to met. Or the Story about the American bomber crew that was escorted by a German Pilot. Someone should go around the world and get the stories from all the WW2 vets and put it all into one big book, I would buy that book in a heart beat.

It's incredible to think of that on Dday all these allies almost got stopped by the Germans.. germany reduced the westfront significantly because they had and needed everything in Russia. Just imagine there were no coldest winter in russia.. it would be a whole other world today. Very cool stuff there!

Thank you for videoing your display I live in Anderson Indiana we had a ww2 museum and Korean and Vietnam the owner had tanks 'helicopters all kinds of stuff everything you could imagine he spent well over 40 years building his displays and last year this dam city passed some kind ordnance and made him get rid of it he fought them in court but eventually he had to sell off everything all because they wanted his land his life's work gone it was a shame watching semi after semi load leave but I read in the paper that a lot of other museum put it in there displays

Nice collection ,what would really make it complete is lots of German gear , arms, medals uniforms ect. You see, German gear is worth a lot more because of its rarety . Just like a m-4 Sherman tan that runs and you charge admission to see it ,stands would be pretty empty but, you have a tiger tank there everyone would come to see the tiger because of its rarity ,plus Gemans had uniforms to die for
