You purposely fail to also add that Britain also done nothing but appease Germany! Why did you not say that as well!

ask the person who provided the voice on the documentary. He, not I, said France did nothing.

Actually, the French done a pretty good job of holding the German back for awhile, keep in mind that Germany sucker punched it's neighbors! If the US had been a neighbor of Germany, the US would have been overrun just as fast!
@douggosnell14658 жыл бұрын
The US would have never been over run by Germany. The Germans at the height of their power controlled an area less than the size of the US east of the Mississippi. They were unable to kick in the door to Russia, what makes you think they could overtake the combined efforts of Ford, GM, US Steel and Boeing? The GNP of the US was 4 times that of Germany and we were in a depression whereas Germany was out of it. In real terms we had 6x the industrial capacity as Germany. The French held back the German hordes ONLY when those hordes were conquering Poland. To say they held them back 1 day is giving them too much credit. How about opening the second front while Germany had their army in another country?

Doug Gosnell - The US has lost the first battle in most every war it has been involved in. The US was unprepared for war as was Europe, so get over yourself and deal with the facts!.

1. Poland did NOT charge tanks with hoses (where did they get this "info"?). They where used to quickly transport troops - cavalry units fought on foot and had anti-tank guns (towed by horses). 2. Germany used a lot of horses to (during the Russian campaign, they had 1 million). They had a few cavalry units (as did there allies). Even at the end of the war in 1945, the most popular supply transportation vehicle in the German army was a horse and wagon. 3. Poland had about 400 obsolete planes. They where slower than the German bombers (or barely faster), making interception possible only by diving from above. They DID fight to the end of the campaign, eventually loosing most planes - where did "buy the end of the next day, the Polish air force was destroyed .. " come from?

if Hitler had kept quiet and gave his scientists time to develop atomic weapons launched from submarines, He could have won. A surprise attack on 3-4 east coast cities would have crippled the USA. If he didn’t attack Poland he could have gone years building and developing devastating weapons. Impatience is what destroyed Hitler, thank god.

Nope, the call to war background music is too much for me to take. And it's louder than the narrator. I loved the content but the music drove me away.

I think its naive to think that Hitler didn't have any plans for western Europe. He would have preferred to keep France and Britain neutral for the time he needed for eastward expansion but that's about it. In the end the stubbornness of the Brits, the willingness to fight when peace seemed the obvious answer saved (at least western) Europe from dictatorship. The eastern Europeans were not so lucky but thankfully they have found their way back to the European family now.

Borders of Poland are wrong, compare 24:21 and any map of interwar Poland 1921. 27:50 All armies used horses in the beginning of WW2. Also Polish airforce was destroyed in second week of the war. Those are some serious oversights, I hope rest of the series isn't concentrated on political side only with only basic and underresearched military side.

The idea that the same ethnicity must belong to the same country is in itself fundamentally racist. Woodrow Wilson was a racist.

Polish have mistreated their horses. So coward horses refused to attack tanks as planned. Thus there were no cavalry attack on tanks

This is a pretty outstanding documentary I must say. One thing it mention was the Vietnamese soldiers who fought for France, I've only read one book about them, (and only been able to find one book on the subject) and I really wish there was more talk about them, because they were by far some of the most badass soldiers in World War II, along with the soldiers from India (despite certain defeat they fought like hell in Hong Kong) Oh well, maybe someday someone will write more about them. Also I'm glad they actually mentioned that Poland was aggressive, I have found several books on the subject, in fact the concept for the final solution was originally drafted in Poland, and indeed their aggressive nature almost certainly accelerated the pace of which World War II happened. I really really really wish there was more on that subject taught in the West, way too much propaganda in Western Historical literature and not enough fact. I'm assuming that's because their hands are equally dirty, after all it was American oil companies via British Banks that's sold large quantities of no-knock leaded gasoline to the German army, right before their invasion of Poland, and they knew exactly what that fuel was for, they 100% knew the invasion was coming, but instead decided to make all out of money on it. It genuinely seems a lot of these political decisions were more like a quick return on investment business decisions, with total disregard for the long-term consequences. Have a nice day.

"Over 4,000 of Poland's army officers died in a bloody massacre by the Soviets." Lol... Yeah, the number massacred was "over 4,000," because the Soviet NKVD (forerunner of the KGB) actually murdered 14,000 Polish military/police officers (plus 8,000 members of the Polish intelligentsia), for a total of 22,000 dead in what is now referred to as the "Katyn Massacre". They then covered up the killings, but the bodies were uncovered in several huge mass graves during the course of the Second World War.
