I listened to this song, this exact video, while getting sober and in the midst of early withdrawal, it's amazing how emotions come flooding in when you start feeling the world again and in a hyper sensitive state. Almost like being born again while also feeling the physical and emotional aches of readjusting to equilibrium. This song helped me feel.

"Booms and busts and heaves and rusts" I love this line its so poetic as the whole song is and just the sound of it when sung is just great. Really captures that rust belt sense of place.

I feel like this song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of growing up in and living in rural America. The lyrics are pretty straight forward. But the juxtaposition of the quick, busy guitar and the slow, almost tired singing and facial expression from Charlie remind me of watching my grandparents and parents when I was a kid. And it definitely resonates with my adult life.

It's so solemnly grounded but optimistically life-affirming, the definition of bittersweet.

Same, same, same. All of Charlie's music does that to me. It holds the spirit of small human stories, and the perpetual struggle of every plain, honest, inescapable day...I don't think any words I try to write can express why I'm left weeping at all of his songs, but I am.
