I am late but the best move according to me is 7:29 to not take rxf1 but bxd6 Rb1 (because b1-Q is check) Rc2 with the threat of rc1+.....Ba2 cannot be played because rc1 is also a checkmate forcing black to play rxc1 pxc1-Q

@@urlfacilearetenir there are two things wrong with your analysis. First if rh1+, you don't have to take and can just move to G3 and there is no promotion with tempo. Second, even if you did promote and went to b8, then kh1, and if qxd6, then nxf7+ when blacks gets the queen back with a discoverd check tempo.

@joedorben3504
@joedorben3504 4 жыл бұрын
Yea even from afar I was confused about this line and how it could be good for black, which is why I doubted that Rxf2 was the move he played until Simon showed it. The line he gave was blatantly obvious and very trivial, and I was surprised he didnt show the Kxh2 line, which was clearly more critical. If Rf8 then white has Rd1 up two pieces (even Nxf8 allowing b1=Q might still be good for white with R, B, N vs Q), and the only nice looking way to stop mate appears to be h6 or h5, but Im just convinced either of these are winning for black.

7:30 Rxf1 is a losing move because of Kxh2... Black should instead play Bxd6 in order to win

7:31 why not king takes bishop, threatening mate on the next move with the rook. Now simply promoting will result in mate. So Maxime has to play h6 and then bishop takes rook and white still has 2 pieces and a rook for the queen which will atleast be a draw if not a win.

Y wouldn’t king just take on a2 the bishop it would’ve prolonged the game because if white did something dumb like queen white has a back rank mate with rook e1

Rxf1is the wrong move after the Rook takes Queen. The correct move is to take the Rook by the Bishop. Then White has to lose his Rook to eliminate the b2 pawn and black wins.
