​@@jumpingship3001well to be honest US doesn't help their chess players either Even hikaru didn't get much He said in one video Also countries like the Philippines don't have as much money as the USA while hanging a serious threat of china in South China sea Geopolitics plays a huge role in budget allocation of government funds and thus the government doesn't get left with much money to support every player Still I do think countries should at least support such talented players who may become champions in their field of sports Just my guess though as to why small countries can't afford promoting sports especially outside west

​@@cosmos1487 the sad part with Philippines is that the corruption and nepotism here is more rampant and blatant than the U.S. Even when someone wins in a sport, the government barely rewards or still refuses to give constant support after the fact that athletes/pros are forced to raise funds themselves for the next competition. Only basketball gets constant love and support here.

I actually hate Wesley's playstyle but yeah, the guy is definitely one of the biggest monsters up there. Aslo worth noticing he wasnt the favourite against Magnus or Hikaru, which actually combines very well with his solid approaches because both Magnus and Hikaru ended up risking too much in their attempt to win, and lost because of it. By the other hand, So has a tendency to underperform more often in games he HAS to win or games that he should win because he is the favourite.
