Manganese heptoxide is a dangerous yet potent oxidiser, to say the least. And is used to oxidise exfoliated graphite in making graphene oxide. Use with extreme caution. Nice method using the glass stir rod! :)

Thanks - credit goes to CLEAPSS for this. Official advice in the UK is not to mix cH2SO4 and KMnO4 for this reason but with a special risk assessment, CLEAPSS were happy with producing the Mn2O7 in situ like this. All the exhibition chemistry demos are cleared with the assistance of CLEAPSS to ensure they are approved for use in classrooms in the UK. Anyone can make a "hey look at this!" video (and indeed there are no shortage of Mn2O7 videos on YT with questionable appreciation of risk) so we're really grateful for their support in ensuring that proper guidance can be given to teachers to help them show these demonstrations safely.
