Franz von Soxhlet invented this in 1879... apparently without the ability to use borosilicate which wasn't invented until 1893 by Otto Schott. I wonder if they worked together before a patent was formed Or the Soxhlet guy was a superhuman, I've blown boro and soft glass and you just couldn't make something intricate like that and have it be durable without a better type of glass.

I saw you just purchased a Soxhlet extractor? So did I. Sadly, mine came from China. It’s missing parts and came with zero instructions. Can you tell me how to determine the correct size thimble so I can order one? Thank you so much.

I am a mushroom enthusiast. I like to make a tincture. I Purchase Soxhlet extractor off the Internet with no prior knowledge. I didn’t realize it was coming from China. It arrived with no instructions whatsoever. I can’t even use it because the plug doesn’t match my American outlet! I’m trying to figure out what size thimble I need to get as well. Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Can you please tell me how to get the correct size thimble? I’m not sure how to determine it! To tell you the truth, I ordered a Soxhlet kit off the Internet, not knowing it was coming from China. It arrived with no instructions, missing a couple pieces, and with a cord I cannot plug-in! I’m going to buy a new heating element, but I still don’t understand how to figure the size of thimble required. Thank you so much.

is it correct to say that in a basic way, it's like steam distillation with a continuous circulation?
@TheEinharjar2 жыл бұрын
I would not believe so since the whole point is that you're able to use a small amount of solvent to distill a targeted group of molecules (by selecting solvent), usually a non volatile. In steam distillation you extract a volatile from other non volatile. So it's fair to say that they have pretty different use cases.
