Hi, Layne. Could you do more episodes where you deep dive into one variety of seed. Telling how to get them to germinate, information on succession planting. Tips and tricks the variety? The previous ones you’ve done have been so helpful. How about starting with ammobium??

I'm dying laughing. At 16:40 when you talk about the smell of the fertilizer and say the family may pack you and move you out, you followed with "there's benefits to that too". I know when you meant, but the way it followed the packing you and kicking you out part... hahaha

Toward the end of the episode Lisa talked about farmer Bailey's recommendations for sweet pea germination. She mentioned they prefer 55 degrees. Is that 55 night temperature, day temperature, or soil temperature. I don't think sweet peas are hardy in my zone 5b but I was curious to experiment with sowing them in plug trays or soil blocks outside in my early spring which is quite long. Thanks for all the great information! I learn so much from this team.

Just found you, wonderful info! Purchased some cool seeds, plan on getting the soil block supplies. Would like to see someone actually planting these small plugs into the ground in the fall and especially in early spring. My goal is to add cool annuals to my perennial garden. I can grow perennials, struggle mightily with warm season annuals. Have done winter sowing with perennial, annuals and veggie seeds in water jugs with good results. Plants were stronger than I’ve raised in the traditional pony pack way. Thanks!

Thanks for the positive feedback, JLP - so happy you enjoyed this episode! Great idea regarding demonstrating how to plant soil blocks in the ground 💡So excited for you to try soil blocking and add more cool season seeds into your garden. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to comment! 🤗

I can’t find the gnat control you mentioned. I do have problems with gnats. Last year I added mosquito bites to my water, but it didn’t break down very well.

Is Cerinthe a Cool Flower in zone 8B? I don't see it listed in your book but I thought it was. Can you plant these in small blocks or do they need to be bumped up like sweet peas?

Hi am zone 8 uk and plant centre direct as cool flower
@LayneAngeloTGW
@LayneAngeloTGW Жыл бұрын
Hello, Julie! Lisa has successfully overwintered cerinthe in zone 7b / 8a, so you should be able to fall-plant in 8b. When sowing larger seeds (like sweet peas and cerinthe) in soil blocks, it is generally best to sow directly into the 2" blocks. Hope this helps! Thanks so much for watching 😊

I have watched 1 and 2 videos. Please confirm these steps or correct if necessary. Seedings in blocking needs yo be bottom watered, on heat mat, with burlap. Once sprouted, remove from mat, remove burlap and place them beneath heat lamp Water with Mister? OR continue watering from bottom? Also if using plug method on heat mat do you still water from.the bottom?

We in PNW almost NEVER have nights in over 60 degrees, except 2-3 weeks in summer. So in the fall, planting cool flower seedlings we would have 50 degree nights in September. Is that too cold?
