It really interest me that people such as Josephine and others alive during the time of the Wild West actually lived to see such advancements such as cars or how WWI and WWII had changed the face of war. I guess I’m trying to say is they went from horses and gunslingers to modern cars and advanced warfare(at the time).

Yeah it amazes me too. I'm 56 and I've seen the and used the rotary telephone and push button, only to be replaced by the cell phone and computers to electric cars etc. But what a life it must have been in the wild west. She was very fortunate.

Growing up as a kid, my father was a huge western film fan, and a big Wyatt Earp/Doc Holliday fan. Obviously, I got a lot of that from him. and also, obviously, I'm a huge fan of tombstone. I was born in 1969, so I'm 54. My dad had a stroke in 1989 and passed in 2001. What I did not know, until recently, was Wyatt passed away the very day my father was born- January 13th, 1929. That blew my mind, to say the least. Never would I even think that was possible.

Wyatt Earp(1848-1929)did not live to see either the Great Depression which began in October 1929 through the Thirties or the outbreak of World War Two in 1939. But his last wife Josephine Sarah Marcus Earp(1861-1944)did dying in 1944.She lived to see through the Great Depression of the Thirties, then the rise of Adorf Hitler and Nazism and finally the bombing of Pearl Harbour in December 1941.

I m jealous of them both. They both got to see and live thru the 1800's and they both got to see the turn of the century. They both lived in a time when this country was still young growing and they also got to see the worst of it. From the Civil War all the way to both World Wars. To me seeing the turn of the century then would have been more exciting than seeing the 21st century.

It is a nice tribute to a man that will likely never be understood. There is just too much out there that confounds. @@dosam_6146 "People of Colma"? Many of those buried in Colma were originally buried in San Francisco. The city decided with limited land for the living that those buried be relocated in an area designated for cemeteries, a real City of the Dead. That city was named Colma. The "residents" of Colma are long past complaining about much of anything.

@aviator052003 #1 It wasn't uncommon in that time to have two middle names. Wyatt's full name was Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp. You'll notice the last name at the top of the tombstone (the big letters that say EARP) also pertaining to his wife Josephine Sarah Marcus Earp. Marcus being her maiden name turned middle name after marriage. #2 Wyatt did live in Los Angeles at the time of his death but his wife had his remains relocated to San Francisco to be buried in the Marcus family plot.

A few posters on the fence. Not sure if they charge to enter but can't say it would be of great value. That was nearly 20 years ago so who knows. Not much in the little town or around it.
