I kind of feel sorry for the in-universe character of Walker too. Since taking the role, he's been beaten up by everyone and got spat on, no one shows him any respect. Pretty sure he's a good guy deep down, he just doesn't mesh well with the parties involved in the story, and that's the perspective and interactions they're showing us. Wyatt is doing a great job at portraying a character going through all that. You can feel how rough he's been getting it when he says "They weren't even super soliders..."

You'll enjoy the show better, and you'll find a different perspective to look at... He doesn’t HAVE to read the comics since the mcu adaptation is kinda different. I prefer actors like Tom Holland or Elizabeth Olsen who like the comics but Chris Evans wasn’t to much of a fan of the comics despite respecting them a lot and seeming to have read a few. I’d rather an actor be here nest like Wyatt and say they tried but got bogged down by the sheer long standing history of the characters and then just listened to the director and writers than fake it or refuse the role solely because they don’t read the comics

Injected the serum not knowing what it can do then he built the Cap. America brand for 100 years. John came with most advantages and wish to continue the brand (either he was ordered to or he wanted to taste the Heroism under the brand of cap. America). Injected the serum knowing exactly what it can do. But they both have one thing in common, they do what feels right (what feels right for either of them is debatable, of course) As for John Walker being a hero is yet to decide. He is on the verge of being a hero or a villain or an anti hero or just simply a mistake.

here is a little tidbit on Wyatt. When he was younger he wanted to be a goalie in the NHL so his parent came to Vancouver to support and wat6ch him play on a junior team for a couple years. I would see his parent around town and they were the nicest people you would ever want to meet.

I was really impressed with his performance as John Walker. I've seen him on Black Mirror and Lodge 49, so I knew he was a good actor, but I still thought he was a strange choice for the role. But I trusted Marvel made the right choice and I wasn't disappointed. Never once did I think of him as a surfer dude. I was totally convinced he was a proud yet conflicted soldier trying to live up to his predecessor's name. Can't wait to see more!
