Wyatt was an ancestor of mine . When I was a boy in the 60s my Grandad took me to the Tower . After chatting to a Beefeater and slipping him 20 quid he took us to where the records are stored . He pulled out Wyatt's death warrant for me to see ! I was very affected by it and tried to do the same with my sons ,but was told things are much stricter these days and to put a request in in writing . Was a great day though, I'll never forget seeing ' Mary R ' on the large piece of parchment that was the warrant.

@@TheHistoryChap similarly , I was a server in Hereford cathedral as a boy . I used to have the keys so I could go in at 6.30 and start setting up for first communion . I'd walk through the darkened cathedral and pass my the tomb effigy of Putta the first Bishop. I'd pat his head and say good morning. He was buried in 660 ! My other duties included winding the clock , it meant I had a free run of the building . Not once did I ever find it spooky . I still feel like that Cathedral is partly mine . Especially as a later ancestor built the west end of it . I'm a history addict like your self , I read history books rather than novels as its much more exciting to read about something that actually happened .

Once again Chris another gem, I had heard of the Wyatt Rebellion, but didn't know much about it and never knew it happened on Fleet Street, by the way the Wyatts are in my tree, Sir John Wyatt b 1569 was married to my 8th great aunt and lived at Allington Castle. now a hotel, one of his relatives was a famous poet

@@TheHistoryChap it’s something I’ve always been fascinated by since studying the Reformation at Uni 30 years ago… the political / religious aspects are often well covered but the social aspect: asking your entire population to stop worshiping in the way they had been doing for hundreds of years and do things in quite frankly austere and dull way: no bells no smells!

Very interesting. In a way it was a shame that Wyatt didn't succeed as he would of stopped the reign of Bloody Mary. At least she didn't live very long. I always felt sorry for Lady Jane Grey as she was supposed to be very intelligent and deserved better. I don't remember learning very much about Mary Tudor like you said.

I get the feeling that Mary wasn't a particularly nice person or good queen. However in her defence she was a fiery Tudor who had a crap childhood.

Mary was a product of her time - committed the same crimes as Elizabeth for similar reasons and, interestingly, in similar numbers. One is bloody - one is golden.

Imagine If Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard were never killed by Henry the 8 and they both got a divorce from Henry and Anne Boleyn remarried to a Protestant man from another country like a duke or king or royalty could she gain power again or when Jane Seymour died she becomes queen consort of England again and win Henry the 8 heart again or is that impossible what about Catherine Howard since she had a smaller age gap between her and Edward the 6 since Lady Jane Grey and Mary queen of Scots were considered for Edward the 6 to marry if the Howard’s want power again could Cathrine Howard also be a talk to Marry Edward the 6 or is that very unlikely and no one would think of an idea of Cathrine Howard marrying Edward the 6 in your thoughts and opinions thanks

Imagine if Lady Jane Grey was never killed then in 1559 she escaped England and moved to Sweden with Gilford had children and her children married into Swedish royal family and if Mary queen of Scots also escaped England in 1587 and moved to Spain married a powerful catholic and had another child on her 40s then in 1603 if both Lady Jane Grey had the backing of Protestant countries and Mary queen of Scots had the backing of the catholic countries to be the next queen of England then in 1603 could that be another war and could Elizabeth the 1 find both Lady Jane Grey and Mary queen of Scots both a bigger threat then they were once and could this lead to more plots to replace Elizabeth I with either Lady Jane Grey or Mary Queen of Scots in your opinion
