The locomotive's used for the trips were 64xx 6412 & 6439...A sad day for a most beautiful line.

The Wye Valley lines would have provided the most scenic preserved railway route in the country if only they’d lasted a few more years!

Undoubtedly true. Lovely countryside, Such a shame it's gone, although I believe Tintern station has been restored and is now a visitor centre.

A lot of meandering rural lines went before Beeching that would bring in oodles of cash today.
