I actually have all of the same dragons from Lord of the Print. I did scale them to match adult proportions, usually about 70% size. The red came off the printer just yesterday. This video came at a perfect time for painting ideas. Thank You. BTW Tiamat and Bahamut are enormous.
@jeremygriffin6202 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I had to build a special shelf for LotP's Bahamut, he sprawls stretching wings and tail that just eat space. I like his stance though, it reminds me of the cross-armed arrogant stance of Final Fantasy X Bahamut.

Love the use of inks to shade the models. Very vivid. One thing I love about D&D is that, among the most prominent monsters, there's a great deal of variety with their cultures, methods, and capabilities. Giants, for example, are only sometimes dumb brutes, with a whole caste system, each caste its own distinct culture and MO. Dragons especially benefit from this narrative variety. To face a Green or Black dragon is a far different thing that a Red or White one. An adventuring party that doesn't know the difference is in for a rude awakening. In all but the White dragon, the Chromatic dragons represent not mere brute beasts, but cunning and manipulative villains or even masterminds. A dragon of appreciable age and power NOT being employed as a major antagonist or even geopolitical force in the campaign world is a dragon whose potential is being squandered. In my homebrew setting, the city of Vetrice (the Rome analogue) was sacked by barbarians, but as two barbarian tribes squabbled over the spoils, a great Black dragon melted their two armies from above with acid breath. The Black Wurm of Vetrice is an infamous figure, having taken ownership over Vetrice's ruins and reduced it to a swamp. The roads leading to Vetrice are flooded with poisonous bogs and sucking mires. Laying atop the pitted bones and corroded armor of thousands of crusaders seeking, in vain, to retake the city. The heroic and ambitious and foolish alike cut down by disease, hunger, and the armies of kobolds, lizardfolk, and heretical Yuan-ti that give fealty to the Black Wurm. High above, the skies are patrolled by the Black Wurm's brood. No one has seen the Black Wurm herself in hundreds of years. Perhaps she's not even alive, having luxuriated in Vetrice's destruction for so long she died of old age. But, whatever the state of the dragon herself, the Black Wurm's hold over that great imperial capitol is absolute. Eternally contested, never conquered.

Really nice work. My only gripe is that I don't buy into old and ancient dragons having holes in their wing membranes. Now this is just my own idea of how they would really look and I know many people do not share that view point. It's just a nitpick on my part. Also this shouldn't take away from Wyloch's work. His artistry is spectacular and wonderful. Like I said really nice work. Fantastic even.

Tell us more about your wash recipe. I see india inks, but what else do you add? water? acrylic medium? I think i maybe saw a flow aid of some sort. They all look stellar!
@WylochsArmory2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's kind of a witches cauldron, I kinda wing it. You could get away with just ink and water (mostly water) but I use matte medium because its thicker. Done over again, I would have skipped flow aid. You don't want the stuff all running off the model. Mix it a big thick and brush sparingly instead, to get in all the crevices.

I think it's interesting how the blue one's physiology allows it to survive in the desert despite being such a bold color.
@seankelley99282 жыл бұрын
And as far as DND is concerned, there are situations where you would b able to see a dragon but not necessarily its color. For example, in a dark cave with dark vision, you only see greyscale in dark vision. But if you could see physiological traits, you could still ID it and maybe b better prepared for it before it kills you and your party anyway😁
