i remember being evacuated from our family ranch as a child when a wildfire got too close. we were afraid we'd lose everything. thankfully, there were brave men and women who were willing to put themselves at risk to defend our homes. i will never forget it as long as i live and i still maintain a deep level of respect for all firefighters. bless you all, wishing you many safe seasons.

andrew conlin I would say it's a great opportunity! And I would recommend it to anyone. I would say do some research and make sure you understand what the job entails. If you are interested create an account on USAjobs that's where most of these positions are posted.

Alec Cannata hey thanks for getting back to me, one last question, do you think a college degree in fire science or any other fire related degree or even environmental is beneficial to getting a job doing, ik you can apply with no college education and just a ged but would a degree in any of those fields help me hired doing this?

andrew conlin you do not need a fire degree specifically. However it will help your resume and move up faster. You can get a Wildland Fire job without college education

Train hard not just physically but mentally ive worked by this crew and many others during good and bad times it takes a certain breed to do what we all do and a certain mindset

hunterof5 thehunter you need to first start off by getting your certification, start with your S-130 and S-190. Job openings for federal teams are posted on USAJobs.gov but local fire departments also have wildland teams.

I would do Type 2 crew(wildland firefighter) first than go to hotshots so when you go to hotshots you’ll have experience. That’s what I’m doing this up coming season will be my second.
