The brilliant Nicolaus Wegner returns for the 2nd and final part of Wyoming Wildscapes. We created the music for this masterpiece of timelapse photography.
* (: DON'T FORGET TO WATCH IN HD FULLSCREEN! :) *
Nic's description :
It was one hell of a journey during the fourteen months making Wyoming Wildscapes II, my second and final Wyoming related time lapse project. Had plenty of adventures while working on this. Lightning almost got me a couple of times this summer, gear froze up in the winter (literally), and broke a few times (don't think most of the time lapse gear was meant for extended wilderness backpacking), all that fun stuff. Despite any minor set backs, this was without a doubt one of the most fulfilling personal projects I've ever undertaken. Saw some pretty amazing stuff along the way, this part of the country never ceases to amaze and surprise me.
Thanks for watching!

Thank you Suzana, for such a wonderful heartfelt comment. We have nothing but praise for Nic, the landscapes move him to dedicate his time and talent to making these works of art. It's now become our own mission to visit those amazing places he illustrates so well. The Wyoming Tourist folks should take note :)

ghostkollective Thank you. My own poor attempt to express my awe: Hiraeth Sun-dyed clouds caress the peaks, Holy vapored hands stretch close And pull- fearful and unworthy- back, With beauty dazzled, they return. Coy shadow plays tides with light Ebb and flow of circling time Held fast against my trembling heart. Stars ballet across night’s deeps While silent lakes keep step And breath, once taken quite away, Is thrown willingly on high. Stretched barrens rolling to the edge Where arias of silent snows are sung. Acrobats of cloud cavort where lupines roam And thigh-rubbed thunder shouts for joy Strobed with searing purple heat. For skittering chattering us A flood of sliced and captured time. For Her, Earth, mother of us all, The slow and measured beat of molten heart. Carve me thin, beauty undeserved, my own heart laid bare To seek and see the naked glorious wonder, Soul embracing hiraeth for home I never had.

Being a native of the area, and having hiked into some of these places over the years, I must say great work to Nicholas at capturing the unique beauty of these wilderness lands. Good music too. Works very well with it. Did you guys do the music to Stormscapes 1 & 2 as well?
@ghostkollective
@ghostkollective 9 жыл бұрын
Hey, glad you like it, Nic is super talented and very modest. Stormscapes uses music from other sources, they're also great choices. Nic has a good ear for stuff that suits each of his projects. We're just happy to help out when we can :) Wyoming looks awesome, we did put a lot of thought into the music for WW2 in particular, and hopefully it shows.

@CmdrGendoIkari

***** The Teton Range is particularly beautiful hiking. On the South side there's a hiking trail up Death Canyon. I've also hiked up and around Mount Moran, though I didn't come across a proper trail on the lake side. There's also a popular hiking trail from the Driggs side that lead to pretty spectacular views of the Tetons. I guess if there's one recurring feature I only noticed one example of in Nic's time lapse videos it would be waterfalls. There are plenty of those scattered about Western Wyoming and Southeast Idaho. Many require hiking to get to.

Beautiful... This is probably a dumb question, but are these time-lapse films made up of thousands of still images? If so, how, when a shooting star flashes across the sky in the blink of an eyelid in real life, does it appear to move in the time-lapse movie? Surely it would only be captured in just one still image, and therefore won't move in the film? The only answer I can think of that makes sense is that you're actually capturing quite a number of images per second, but if that's the case you must need hundreds of thousands of images... Am I missing something?
@ghostkollective
@ghostkollective 10 жыл бұрын
Hey Tim Pentreath thanks for the question....which isn't so dumb actually :D Yes the video is made up of tens of thousands of still images, maybe Nicolaus Wegner can help with the exact numbers and how he managed to capture those shooting stars....
@NicolausWegner
@NicolausWegner 10 жыл бұрын
Meteorites last less than a second usually, but since the exposure is being taken (whether it's a 1 second or 30 second exposure), the meteorite will show up in the photo, but no more than one frame of the time lapse. Same thing with lightning. The idea is no different than taking a single photograph. Same principles apply. If something in this video looks like it's moving across the sky over several frames, it's not a meteorite, but a satellite or airplane. All the really fast flashes of light during the star sequences are most likely meteorites. Time lapse videos like this are made up of thousands of still images, that is correct.
@TimPentreath
@TimPentreath 10 жыл бұрын
Nicolaus Wegner ghostkollective Thanks for your replies. So the briefest single frame flashes are meteorites, the other ones where you see movement are planes or satellites... Makes perfect sense now - thanks for the obvious explanation! Anyway, it's wonderful work Nicolaus, it must have been quite something to spend so long out in the wilderness.
@NicolausWegner
@NicolausWegner 10 жыл бұрын
Tim Pentreath You got it Tim. No problem. Didn't get to spend as much time in the wilderness as I would have liked, hauling all the gear takes a toll on your back. Only about 3 weeks in true wilderness, maybe a week or so in wilderness study areas. Rest of the time was invested in driving to locations and sleeping in the jeep night after night. Storm chasing, national parks, national forests, etc. Fun stuff.

Hi! I'm a college student working on a theatre-production-turned-film recorded over Zoom. We're interested in using your footage for our Title scene. Is this something that you'd be okay with? We're streaming for 3 days this weekend and then removing it from the public

Sorry for not responding in time. Hope the activity went well. We wouldn't have been able to give you permission very quickly, as the footage belongs to Nicholas Wegner (a photographer based in Wyoming). We created the music to fit the footage he gave us :)

Really nice and diverse timelapse. Have you only done this around Wyoming? Do you have another channel with more like this?
