Wyoming Wolf Abuse Fallout: State Reacts, Tourism Office Silent

There is still plenty of fallout from the case of an abused wolf in Wyoming. It was back in March when the story was first reported.
According to the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office, on February 29 Cody Roberts reportedly hit a wolf with his snowmobile, then put duct tape around the animal's mouth, secured it with a leash, and brought it to a local bar for patrons to see. The wolf died soon after. Images and videos were taken of the incident, but Your Wyoming Link has not been able to confirm the cause of death.

He didn't just duck tape her mouth, he put a shock collar on her as well and she did NOT die shortly after. They tortured her for HOURS at that bar before taking her out back and finally ending her life.

The wolf hatred and general disdain for predators in Wyoming isn't as rare or as isolated of an incident as people are making it out to be. "Shoot a pack a day" or "shoot, shovel, and shut up" are common sayings out there and plastered on shirts, hats, bumper stickers, and shared across the internet as 'memes' of wolves being killed. Wyoming fish and wildlife won't even actually charge this guy for any abuse or torture committed against an animal because apparently "animal cruelty charges are not applicable to predatory animals" - the legislation in Wyoming and the predator zones that encompass 85% of the state which allow the killing of predatory species encourages such deprived behavior.

@@blobbertmcblob4888 in Wyoming, stray cats and dogs are classified as predators and can be legally hunted however people want to in the predator zone - so if he did this to a stray dog/cat he would walk away free as well. He'd only be in trouble if it was someone's pet that he found out there on his snowmobile. Also, jackrabbits and porcupines are classified as "predators" for some reason too? I think their predator list is really just their "pest" list and they use "predator" to try and justify the killing because the predator zone, according to Wyoming, is to reduce damage to livestock.

I know Cody and my brother considers him one of his closest friends in Sublette County. I lived there from 2012 until recently and all I have to say is that if these actions don't reflect the values of Wyoming, then someone needs to let the people in Sublette County know that their values are out of line. They view the wolf as an existential threat to livestock and 1/3 of people in the county are employed in the livestock business. They also regularly hire a guy to come out and shoot prairie dogs because it is falsely believed that cattle are upset by having prairie dogs around. A ranch hand on the family ranch would kill every porcupine he saw or every skunk to prevent his dogs from getting needles or skunked. The list goes on and on. Dogs are often left outside in heat, snow, -- even down to negative 40 F. When my family moved up to Sublette county when they bought a working cattle ranch up there, a ranch hand berated my parents for treating their dog like a member of the family. This behavior that Cody exhibited is TOTALLY reflective of the values of Sublette County from what I saw when I lived there. Not everyone, but enough.

I called the Wyoming Governers office, and "Amy" did everything possible to pretend she knew nothing about the incident. Her very words were, "What do you want US to do about?". She CLEARLY couldn't care less. I certainly would not take my family to Wyoming. They are violent, angry, Animal Torturers. And if any Wyoming resident claims that this does not reflect them..... Then they are wrong. It sure does reflect on them, because they have DONE NOTHING ! Like that TV Show called, "What Would You Do?".... well, Wyoming people would do NOTHING.
