can I pull out an sd card to permanently save the days of video recording and replace a card for the camera. My goal is to be able to view the recorded images for the past few days as my pet has died and I want to save the last days of him in my home.

Thank you. I took the sd card out and replaced it with an old sd card. However I was not able to replay what would have been stored on that old sd card, I assume because the dates do not match to the replay MONTH + DATES that are the options on the wyze cam replay. Any ideas how to save and view what is on my removed sd card to view my pet.

If you insert the SD card into a computer slot or adapter, you will be able to playback the videos files, it doesn’t matter the dates set by the Wyze camera. What happened when you tried to playback on the computer? Any error messages? Sometimes the default video player (such as Windows Media Player) doesn’t work, so you use a free software such as the VLC Player which you can download for Free. I’ve seen that a lot… VLC gets the job done.

Why doesn't it allow me to record video to the sd card? Do I have to have a subscription?

No need for a subscription to record into the card. Perhaps your card is protected, or not correctly formatted, or not supported size/brand….check that. Also check if you have the camera configured to record into the card when motion is detected.

Yes, of course. The camera needs to record somewhere, right? If you want redundancy then pay the subscription to record in the cloud simultaneously so you’ll have the video even if they take you camera.

@SmartDevicesChannel its just that blink cameras record to a device with a flash drive you can put inside the house, hidden so its difficult for people to take footage of you The night vision for wyze cameras seems really great though

@@GodsLoveBeWithYou It depends on the camera that you are using and how much you are willing to pay. Professional CCTV camras for example always record into a NVR (Network Video Recorder) that is availavle in the network, you can hide it and protect it. Nowadays there some cheap NVR as well, let's say from Reolink for example, thay have an internal hard drive to record for weeks or even a month.

@@SmartDevicesChannel yeah just for basic privacy though, the wyze sd card function seems to be a bad idea for most. Even people stealing only outdoor wyze cameras with sd cards could show your daily routine and make the house more vulnerable for break ins

I suggest a high endurance SD card. They are more reliable for writing and rewriting over time.
