Im seeing this in the future 😂 Thanks for doing this!👍🏻 I'm going to do the same extension but on a pan cam v3. Dam thing is terrible with the WiFi. I've had it set up in my backyard about 50ft or more from the house and it's been terrible. I'll update when done.👍🏻

***Make sure to take out your SD card before opening or you will break the card slot. I just added tiny external antennas for my outdoor Wyze cameras and it's a day and night difference.

Yep same! damaged mine in process but range is better now!

Thanks for the video. How did this work once you reinstalled it in the original location? Did the connectivity issues completely disappear?

About 90% better. Every once in a while it looks like the cam freezes for about 10 seconds and then continues on. This only happens for a short time every few days. It might actually be a problem with the camera itself, but I have a feeling its more about wifi reception. It is however MUCH better than it was. Before the camera only showed 1 bar of signal and would freeze up often. If the garage door was open, forget it..there was no signal what so ever, however now it works fine with the door open or closed.

2 Questions: 1) How long can I make this antenna? I have a brick house and the WiFi does not penetrate the brick. Any thoughts? 2) How hot is your Soldering iron? Thanks for the video.

From what I see (9:25) the metal piece has 3 leads (posts), basically behaved has one solid piece. So mod with an external antenna, which center antenna lead should be connected to the left, center or right (9:25)? Should center lead of antenna be soldered to Center on PCB and ground can be soldered either the left or right side?
@Electronicle Жыл бұрын
Two of the pads were connected together / had continuity. From rewatching the video and memory the two with continuity were next to each other, while the other was at the far end of the 'connector' / 'antenna'

@@Electronicle From (9:22) that Silver Metal Tab has 3 leads (one piece/0 ohm reading on 3 tabs). So you are saying from PCB (9:25) the solder hole on the Left is Center of Antenna (mod with ex ant)? While the two (Center/Right) holes of PCB are considered Ground? If that was true, then it become a shorted path to ground once you soldered the antenna lead on. Because that Silver Metal Tab is one complete piece with 3 tabs, right? RMS meter tested for continuity on Silver Metal Tab having 3 leads External Antenna has a Center Lead (+) while the Outside Lead is Ground (-)

@@angelisone Just because you see a piece of metal with 3 tabs, doesn't mean that all 3 tabs have the same resistance especially at high frequencies.

@@whynot9884 Pertaining to my question. Center lead of external antenna connected to where? Have you done it, already? Or, you just don't know.

Its killing me watch you and your impatience with yourself. Slow down and do it right, then you won't make mistakes.
