I multiplied 3/1 to both sides. It’s best to use KIS (keep it simple). Why complicate things if not necessary.

Crossproduct is the first thing you learn while working with fractures, but they also tell you don't have to write down the extra steps if you can do them in your head :D

My teacher always took points off my grade. She expected me to show every tiny step. To do it her way, it took me a lot longer because I wrote down all of the tiny steps. Often, an entire page and sometimes part of the back was used to put down all the tiny steps. What a waste of time.

I terrible at math so I often used imagination to solve things...Please tell me if I'm wrong... Right side was 1 over 5 which is 20% so X should be 20% of 3 in this...which is 0.6 or 3 over 5.

Why move the 5 twice? That requires two multiplications and then one division to isolate "x". The quickest way to isolate "x" is to move the 3 just once.

Yes. I rarely listened to the teacher explaining the process of getting the answer. While she/he was explaining, I was figuring out how to do the next problem. Some days, I would get several chapters ahead of where the teacher was in the book. I loved solving problems but hated having to explain it.
