I still listen. It is still a huge part of life for me. As other X albums. Never ending stories . We grow and we relate. This can be painful. But that is life and I was blessed with Grandparents who loved us kids. Music was a big deal. My Granma,... maternal grandmother. Painted and sang and wrote things Pops was a Native American Korean war Veteran. But FUNNY! And very wise and very special! He looked after us all. My actual father was an amazing musician. His father too . I got hung up on X at about 17. And Kerouac and y own way of being. But still hanging on to my Grandparents ' way. I am blessed. I am thankful. For them. And always for X. I still write. I still play things. God is Good all the time, baby! X forever LOVE YOU ALL. 🙏🌹

I'm still amazed at how many people I speak to who profess to "know a lot about music" and have musical taste who have never heard of or listened to X. This band is one of the most important and seminal bands to ever come out of LA. Their creative and spiritual connection to the Doors. among other bands is part of what makes them so special and unique. Their compelling mixture of punk, country, roots and classic rock makes them stand out from the crowd. Saw them at the Whiskey in '84, saw them in Ventura in 2013, will see them again and again and will always be hypnotized by their unique artistry.

Never heard of em...Nah, just kidding. Saw them in 1986 for the first time when I was 16. Not a good show, but the amazing 1987 Universal Ampitheater show (w/ an incredible fIREHOSE and Jerry Lee Lewis opening for them) was a legendary concert. Stunning sound. Exene was very pregnant. Tony Gilkyson was scorching on guitar.

Calling the album "Los Angeles" was perfect, since it perfectly encapsulated life in LA at the time. "You're Phone's Off the Hook..." described LA style social interaction perfectly, "Nausea" was the definitive morning-after-a-party experience, and "Sex And Dying in High Society" told you all you need to know about being rich and famous. I can't think of another record album that summed up life in a city so well

Pivotal album by one of the best LA bands ever. Lucky enough to see them a few times, back in the day, then at Coachella (I believe that was a reunion gig?), then at a John Doe show at Pappy & Harriet's a couple years back. They crafted a sound that many bands took as inspiration later. Oddly under appreciated.

How time flies. Saw them on the LA 25th Anniversary tour with Rollins Band opening and it was wonderful. My wife, a huge fan who had seen them in a small club in Houston in the early'80s, introduced me to their music. When I asked her to compare the two performances, she said, "They can play their instruments a lot better now," lol. 25 years of gigging will do that. Now 43 years ... boy I hope I can see them again.

As a child of the 60's and 70's and a young adult of the awesome 80's I can say without a doubt that this was my Punk Band. I just love the slightly off key duets and the band as a whole were just rockin'. Nothing compares and I am glad. I only with we could literally go back in time. I know, look to the future...nah.

I saw X live at a music festival in 2009, I was working at it and what I noticed was members of other bands such as The Breeders and Shellac coming behind the PA to watch. Clearly one of those bands who were massively influential rather than successful.
