In this video we discuss using an External Router with the included Ethernet port on X AIR Digital Mixers, using the X AIR EDIT app.

Thanks this video Behringer, really helpful! But the routers ip setting is DHCP too or static? I see the mixer's lan setting DHCP mode

Actually, you don't need an external router for ethernet operation. If you set the X Air's LAN settings to 'DHCP server' you can connect an iPad or MacBook directly via ethernet.

How exactly do you connect this way? I have an iPad lightning to ethernet adapter plugged in from my iPad to the ethernet port of my X18, what do I set my X air’s ethernet setting to? Static, DHCP or DHCPS?

What position should I choose in order for me to connect my laptop through external wifi router ? Ethernet position or the middle position?

Do you have to do that every time you use your external router, or just the first time you set it up? Like, if I go to a gig and I’ve already followed these steps before, am I still required to hook a hard wired computer up to it, or should I be connected automatically?

hi, I wonder one thing related ethernet cable signal, why is not green led lighting once I connected to ethernet cable ? Is it normal only yellow led ?

After you change it to DHCP will the internal router still work

Hello! Can i use the xr18 as an expansion input and output for my x32 compact? i already have the x32 compact and i need more preamp's input and i was thinking that the xr18 would be a good choice since i can also use it by itself... Thanks in advance!

This is not possible Francisco because the X AIR Mixers are designed to be a standalone unit and is not able to be linked directly to your X32 Compact. However, we do have a number of products available like the S16, S32, SD8 and SD16 that give you the ability to expand upon the inputs/outputs of your X32. The range of the X AIR Mixer when using an external router will depend on the capabilities of your router and the devices you are using to connect to the mixer. (Tablet/Phone/PC) Dual band routers utilize the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, 2.4GHz will give you greater boosted range but is potentially more crowded with other devices on the same band, where the 5GHz band is much more open as far as traffic goes but the range is more limited than the 2.4GHz band.

Yes you will have to connect to your X AIR before you can properly setup and configure your Mixer to work with an external router. This can be done via direct hardwired ethernet cable or by connecting to the wireless internal Access Point network.

Absolutely! Using an external router with X AIR allows you to connect your tablet and PC wirelessly for control of your mixer at the same time, while connecting the USB port of your X AIR Mixer to your computer allows you to record audio directly to your favorite DAW software. (X18/XR18 Models only)

Yes you can connect your PC to your X AIR directly via ethernet cable, just make sure that the REMOTE switch on the front of your X AIR is set to ETHERNET and that your computer is set to automatically accept an IP address via DHCP. Doesn't work for me. Did everything exactly like you did. When I switch to Ethernet; I lose connection and the connection page shows searching devices but nothing comes up. Where do I go from here???

+BigHamm007 This is likely because your control device is still connected to your "setup" network. After moving the remote switch over to ethernet you will have to tell your control device to connect to your external router's network to connect to X AIR.

Why does everybody call a router "external router" ? There's no (internal) router in an XR.

Because if you didn't save, you lose your settings and end up with whatever happens to be stored in the mixer (usually not the last setting you created on the PC).
