X-Copy PRO 5

X-Copy PRO The Amiga disk copier that every Amiga owner knows.
X-Copy was a powerful disk copy program that could backup copy protected disks. Cyclone provided on the same disk, was handy for those games that had stronger protection to prevent copies (er...backups). Added Burst nibbler at the end which is built into Action replay III, a good copier which came in handy if xcopy was struggling with a particular track.
It was always good to have a selection of copiers handy as no one program is perfect for every disk/track type. Tetracopy was another good prog. DCopy is probably the worst, it struggles with basic dos stuff. Powercopy was the last great copier with profiles for problamatic games.

I remember when i had to put a heavy object on the keyboard pressing R to retry the copy after a failed sector over and over again in nibble mode. Priceless memories !

Is everyone's most fondest memories reside around the Amiga and the beauty that machine carried? Mine certainly is. When I finally swapped to the dark side (1995) I must admit the lure of Doom, 2" x 2" video playback, Windows 3.1, Microsoft Office, decent hard drive (500MB), proper monitor at a proper resolution meant I was never to return. Such a shame Commodore couldn't get it together.

Wow, I remember this, it would clatter away for ages in nibble mode before spitting out a useless copy 99% of the time. Months later i got the dongle and a second drive for it and it copied a hell of a lot more games (but still not every one). Action replay/nordic power cart worked a lot better for games that loaded into memory completely on boot as you could strip the drm and bugger about with the sprites/sound/code before saving it.

Tetra Copy was a slow-as-hell way of copying disks. Disk finished, "just let me finish this game of Tetris off first...", game over, new disk, "just a quick game of Tetris..." Unless you were shit at playing Tetris in which case it was a pretty quick way of copying disks :)

@warwick2155 Any AmigaDOS standard format disk would back up as easy as this yes. Original games would usualy have protection though sowould require a stronger nibble mode or even a stronger copier like cyclone briefly shown in the video. Cracked games were all converted to standard dos disks so copy as easy as this vid shows.

@warwick2155 I dont have the manual at hand to check, but any number appearing in red is an error of some sort. Maybe the track is readable but needs a nibble mode to copy. a green 0 means track copied ok, and a yellow 0 would mean the track has been verified ok (if the check is enabled (shown as a V on the lightbulb))

@AmigaOmega Cyclone is a good option but these ultra copiers need an external drive and an adaptor for the strongest nibble modes. (cyclone is part ofthe X-Copy Package) There is also Powercopy and it too requires an adaptor. Ive no idea if any can be baught today. Make a thread on the eab forums, im sure there are people that can help their more then I can. eab.abime.net
