This is my first shape shifting cube, and your video was very helpful. Thanks! I wrote down the last layer algorithms, hope this helps others: 12:51 LL Corners Headlights on the left: r2 u r2 u' r2 u' d r2 u' r2 u r2 d' LL Edges 13:49 Opposite Edge swap: r2 u2 r2 u2 r2 u2 (creates parity) 14:52 Adjacent Edge swap: r2 u r2 u r2 u2 r2 u2 r2 u r2 u' r2 (creates parity) Ending Opposite Edge Parity: 5x(r u2)

I tend to dislike off shaped Rubik's puzzles, so I left this one alone after getting it as a gift. Randomly decided to try to solve it and have been trying to find the name of it and how to solve parody for about 2 hours. Thank you very much.

THANK YOU!! I've been trying to solve it using the cross cube method all this time and i kept running into parity! How i did not recognize this i do not know but thank you so much. you have taught me how to solve the pyraminx crystal that was the video that got me to subscribe to you in the first place. Again Thank you so much JR!!

I solve the X-cube like this: Step 1a: Semi-Algorithmic Cubeshape: I solve Cubeshape by first intuitively putting the edges in around the centers. Then I do Sune in certain cases until there are 3 pegs, then I swap some pieces between layers until it's the right case and solve 1 side. Then I do sune to solve the second. It feels like a much longer and funner version of Pyraminx LL. Step 1b: Solving the centers: I solve the big 3x3 center of the large faces easily by first making the crosses then using a "move from bottom/front to top" algorithm (it's not really an algorithm as I found it out intuitively) to solve the center-corners. Step 2: Solving the first two outer layers. This is basically the same as step 1b except now I have to worry about permutation as well, though it's really not that bad. Step 3: Solving the last two outer layers intuitively. There is a method with the X-cube which just does one of these then solves LL with algorithms (Just search X-cube tutorial on KZbin to find it, it's the one I used and is split up into multiple videos). Instead of doing one outer layer and solving the last algorithmically, I solve it so they're BOTH solved at once. (kinda reminds me of ortega 2x2 method, but my $20 2x2 broke... D: I'll wait for better 2x2s to come out, ones at least as good as the Valk 3 (in feel + turning).) In case I do an odd number of "big" turns, that's a parity. It may be a parity, but it's the easiest parity you probably will ever hear of. Two LL pieces across from eachother need to be swapped, and to fix it you just do R U2 5 times. XD I partly used the tutorial for the first bit, but developed the rest of the method intuitively. I used this knowledge to solve the Super 3x3x5 intuitively as well, though just like the Floppy Cube I feel the normal version is harder to come up with a solution for. I will try eventually. I try to stray away from algorithms, but I'm starting to learn about commutators and conjugates which should help me.

Can you put the last layer algorithms in the description? Thanks! BTW this vid was great, I finally solved my X2 with it! EDIT so yeah I thought I solved my X2, but then I got the last layer opposite edge swap parity, and trying the R U2 (x5) algorithm did some weird stuff to it. I will check the X2 walkthrough video again, but I've already checked that one quite a few times now :/

just some constructive criticism, but the grey background doesn't look as good as the old white one, just make sure not to over expose the white and you're golden.
@JRCuber
@JRCuber 8 жыл бұрын
Over-exposing the background was always a bad habit and one of the major reasons I switched to grey. I was always way to concerned with making the white look perfect without any dark spots or shadows. This would always wash out my hands and ultimately, the colors of the cube. By having the grey, I can color correct to make the cube look brighter and more accurate rather than trying to make the white whiter and brighter. It's just easier on me since I'm a big perfectionist when it comes to my videos, and I just prefer the grey look. Makes the colors pop more IMO :)

Kinda missed entire middle section solution because you found a cheat solution... Also, no written directions of catch phrases anywhere of basic directions. I'm older, grew up in 80s and don't like only watching KZbin videos. I'm an engineer and like visual written clues too. Guess I'm off to Dave Baum's Pages again which are missing visual directions/pics of any kind. Between the two of you, I can probably figure out. Been playing with my old 3x3 and then figured out my 4x4 again before coming to the unpopular x-cube sitting on my shelf! Been there 4 yrs... Thx for partial help...

To get from 45 sec to let's say 15 sec there are 3 things you need to do; 1. learn algs!!! 2. learn to look ahead for your next turn/alg. and most important: PRACTICE!!! (a lot) (OK, also you need to do fingertricks but I assume you already know that.)
