For all confused on the status of their relationship at this point (deep breath) ... Mulder and Scully were together in their little house until some undisclosed moment between 2009 and 2016. Personally, I like to think the separation was not that long before the tenth season began, but we don't know because Chris doesn't like us to know these things. They separated because Scully moved out. He had apparently been struggling with depression and not doing what she advised to overcome it. You can see hints of this beginning in the I Want to Believe movie if you pay attention to the subtext. She hinted that if it got any worse, she wouldn't know what else to do but to leave him. So anyway, they come back together as colleagues in 2016, and Scully is understandably hesitant to contemplate more. She doesn't want to go back to that place. And Mulder being Mulder, he doesn't bring it up except in little quips and veiled comments. So they are doing their old dance, where they pretend they can't see what we can all see as plain as day. But since they have had an intimate relationship for at least a decade, it's a little harder to ignore this time. It's completely understandable that she would start hanging out in their old house with him under the guise of doing work. They did this constantly in the old series. Keep in mind, in ep 2 she first referred to the house as "Mulder's residence" although she seemed to hesitate before she said it, and then talking to Skinner, her mask was off and she called the house "our home" because it was her home for many years. It was a slip. Hopefully a slip that means these two will find their way back together. I think the biggest reason she acted high and mighty about getting two rooms and then keeping him in his own room and his own bed was because Scully follows the rules and I doubt the Bureau looks favorably on agents sharing motel rooms. More than that, she is private and she doesn't want anyone knowing their business. I think everything they are doing right now is in keeping with their personalities. But I do hope that something or someone forces them to really talk. Because they are both so bad at communicating this sort of thing! Oh, and Chris totally dipped into the fanfic to write this episode. I wrote a similar story in 1998, and I know it's a popular scenario in the fanfic world.

I totally agree with you. In Season 10 and 11, the thing most annoyng, was their relationship. At the end of season 9, they were together, in love and I think that after that they were together for some years. I hate to think that after all they've been through, they are not a couple. A lot of years together, in love with each other, that in the begin, they didn't wonna admit it. When they both admit it (season 6), they wait for the right moment (season 8 finale) and they started being a couple. How Can you not have feelings anymore for a person that you always loved, from the first moment you met him/her? I hate CC for let them break up.

They are the only ones for each other. Their soulmate relationship is so far beyond sex. We know they destined to be together for all of their lifetimes. CC could have given us something more than he did. In 11 x 4 he could have given us a hand touch or a lean in when Scully decides not to eat the Jello saying she wants to remember it as it was, I want to remember how all of it was . Mulder smiles at her and the camera pans out. Geez was there ever a better time for some affection? Hell, we know these 2 can't stay away from each other or keep their hands off each other (even if we only imagine it).

I love this video! My own 10 point interpretation of the historic conversation leading to the first Mulder and Scully confirmed boomchickawow in 25 years. 1) Scully goes into that bedroom with one intention. One lame attempt at making it about the case and within 10 seconds she’s all like ‘Can you hold me??’ Come on Scully … we all know spooning leads to forking! 2) Mulder is well up for it, hold you? ‘I can do that!!’ Blanket drawbridge up, in ya get, make yourself so very at home. A light rock of the position, click, snuggle in place. Mulder quiet and expectant looking at the back of her head … sooo, what the, err .. what? 3) Scully starts fishing … ‘Mulder, what’s going to happen when we’re old?’ aka: reassure me, comfort me … COMMIT to me! Err, no. He makes jokes. ‘What do you mean when?!’ Ha, not at all, not so ha. Goddamn it Mulder. 4) Scully tries again. ‘I mean … sooner or later we’ll be retired….?’ aka… tell me if we’re not tied together by this job, we’ll be tied together by our love?!?! He fails again. ‘Nah, I’ll always be up for chatting crazy theories through with you buddy.’ FFS. 5) Ok dude. Let me spell it out for you. ‘WHAT IF YOU MEET SOMEONE? YOUNGER? HAVE THEIR BABIES?’ A pause. Oh god. Head. Brick wall. He literally just repeats the question back to her. 6) Mayday, Mayday … It starts to fall apart into all sorts of ridiculousness in his questions about her thoughts on kids. If they were strangers who had met that day, ok, just about buy it. Joined at the hip for 25 years. Nope. This don’t float. 7) Ok, let’s get this back on track. Another fishing trip by Scully: ‘What’s stopping me from having kids? Besides the fact that I don’t have anyone to have one with even if I could?’ Lift up at end of sentence, push the rhetorical tone, FLUTTER MY LASHES 8) He ponders, he thinks, he speaks: ‘You’re a woman of science.’ Slow clap. That’s it. Yep. Worst possible answer in the history of the world. 9) Dead end, dead ahead. Ok … get it back, let’s get him back … talk about the world going to hell, get him going on the FBI hating President, we could lose our jobs … he’s wondering what we would do?? Wait … I spy an opening … 10) She rolls over, faces millimeters apart, eyes trailing seductively: ‘We’ll think of something.’ HE’S GOT IT!! Halle-fucking-lujah!! Ladies and Gentleman … the eagle has landed. Mulder and Scully. Full sex. Twitter explodes. The internet breaks. Bring on the afterglow!

It‘s such a funny moment and the nurses and Gillian were really on point! Watched it again and again. Yes, GA mentioned it back when they did S10...she had to wear a wig for Scully from now on because she needed to keep her blonde hair for The Fall and the constant bleaching to go back to blonde was too much for her natural hair to handle. So, the wig. Loved her wig when it was a little longer, but I wasn't crazy about the short one at the end of S11, just felt like they were trying to give her that old school Scully look. While GA looks amazing regardless, I just felt like the longer softer look just worked better as the characters have gotten older.

Of course it isn't a romantic show, they don't have to write fluff, but why even let them hook up then, why not focus solely on the cases then, I only ask for consistency and continuity. The episode This had no romance, but them living together made sense. I'm really not liking the sex friends concept, that's not what their relationship was about. You don't go to Antartica to save someone and you don't run away together, leave family and friends behind, if you're just platonic. Why be so coy after all these years, this has gotten so ridiculous, I sometimes wish the had stopped the franchise after The truth!

I waited all evening for your review :D i hear ya, i am extatic too, the episode was great and the sex made it even better! I am a little bummed we didn't see a kiss, but CC wanted to create an element of surprise so he made sure nothing would give away the fact that they were about to do the naked pretzel! And to be honest that's how I always imagined we would find out they were doing it, but I hope int the upcoming episodes we get a few kisses if not one very passionate like, "oh the world is going to end, let's make the most of it and do it against the wall"... a woman can dream! I'm hopeful he will kiss her "inadvertently" in at least one of the upcoming episodes... I agree Scully is really beautiful and Mulder is sooooo handsome, they are a hot couple, the Brangelina of the bizarre :D

Well, you know they have always toyed with the Scully/Mulder relationship and the will still continue to milk that for all it’s worth. Scully is starting to become a believer like mulder. She’s seen too much of Mulder’s world. She try’s to stay objective, but even she has seen things she couldn’t explain.

Scully still surely has her own place, but she spends so much time at Mulder's reclusive home. I think they're like two divorced people trying to work together and get along. Always still so fond of each other, but through all 11 series', you've never heard Scully or Mulder say outright what they are. I doubt they even broke up properly, coz there was never an official getting together. And the tradition continues. What they have works, so if they want to first be friends with benefits and tempt us slowly into their relationship again, that'll do me :) Eventually however the series will end, they won't be engaged or with their son, but they'll be together.
