Oh the hypocrisy. She picks on him for being in the dark, but I just realized: She is always typing in dim lit rooms in the TV series. Also, Mulder was technically correct most of the time. Aka, the cases almost never had common science based explanations. While Scully's obsession with science ultimately saved Mulder on many occasions, they would never have found the case without the "paranoia" this skit is poking fun at.

clearly, the maka koa was distorting their conception of time and space in the darkness. it made mulder believe everything was sunshine to ignore it. and scully found a computer to write her log in. while in reality no time had passed and they had split up. if mulder had not noticed the dark door he would have eventually been forced to carry the maka koa's unborn child in his brain till it hatched and burst out through his nostrils.

I've been binging on the older videos and Door Monster's high production values, clever writing, and general consistent awesomeness continues to impress me. My only quibble is that, if anything, this video looks too well lit and too well shot to be an authentic X-Files episode. Personal theory about why the X-Files was always Too Damn Dark: To save on the budget of sets & effects so that when you actually see a clear shot of a scary bloogey woogey monster, you were actually impressed.
