100% agree to everything he said, america (musicians) need to learn and respect every genre of music, i wish from the bottom of my heart that america can learn to combine every genre and combine them into something very MUSICAL and different.. just look at japan they arent afraid to do it, so why are we?

I couldn't get in the studio because Metallica was recording bthe Black Album, so I bought it! It sounds so simple and logic from him XD

Does it sound like he meant he wanted to record at the same studio Metallica's happened to be recording at, so he BOUGHT the studio? Or did he mean something else? Can't quite make out what he meant by that.
@VisualFelink

Knowing X japan for 10 years and having read quite a lot of things about them I'm pretty sure that it's the first option. He bought it because Metallica were recording and he wanted to record in the same studio at the same time.

No, he wanted to record for a day but Metallica was recording that day and wouldn't allow anyone else to record, so he went ahead and bought the studio, and proceeded to record his album.

I remember a friend of mine telling me in 2003 - just like Yoshiki said in the interview - that Yoshiki produced the first Dir en grey album "Gauze". I was a huge X-Japan fan; so, this was actually the reason why I started listening to "Dir en grey". That album blew me away and you could definitely hear some significant parts of the compositions that were influenced by Yoshi. That was the first step into Visual Kei. After that came MUCC, Kagerou, Despairs Ray etc. Great times!

That's what I love about the visual kei bands. They are true artists. They focus solely on expressing themselves through their music, regardless of whether it comes out sounding insanely heavy or incredibly moving and solemn. There is a level of expression present in the music of bands like Dir En Grey and The Gazette that you just don't often see in the output of western bands.

I saw Yoshiki and X-Japan four years ago in NYC. Best night of my life. It's funny though that it was Kiss that introduced me to X. Go listen to the Kiss My A** album and you'll know why. Also if you're a Kiss fan there is a neat video of X playing Hard Luck Woman that you should look up. It's epic. ^_^

X Japan's lead vocalist toshi started doing it first cause he would randomly start crying in the middle of songs and was really embarrassed so he started hiding the fact that he was crying with sunglasses as far as why Yoshiki does i don't really know it could be that he does it to prevent aging from uv rays as some other celebraties do for that reason as well you can tel lthe guy is realllllllllly trying to take care of his health
