Every single stock Traxxas servo is garbage. Especially in the X-Maxx. People should always upgrade the steering servo right out of the box.

It's enough to get you going and enough for traxxas to slap a rtr badge on the box but you will have to toss the servo pretty quickly

Had my xmaxx for a year without a problem ! People destroy theirs by doing the same thing this guy is doing in his video ! Going crazy on the servo while the truck is not moving ! Are you guys doing that with your real car too ? So stupid !

the difference is tremendous.... its a shame. cant wait till someone makes one that fits the stock position. doubt ill do this conversion but nice work and thanks for sharing

I really do think the brand new tires sticking to the hardwood made the stock servo struggle. going to do another video to compare on grass and stone. Get a better overall idea

+Evolution RC this is miss leading. new to the rc world, I put a savox 1274sg servo in my talion with noticed torque and speed at standstill over stock but didn't really translate to much on pavement with my belted road crushers from sweep. now I'm learning about all this new stuff from youtube such as steering slop and saver adjustments. sigh...someone should just make a video on how to maximize steering under any condition.

+Evolution RC good work mate, just got my xmaxx yesterday so may enjoy it stock first and will reconsider when I break something major, a lot of custom mods to get that servo in- don't know if I have the patience!

My Xmaxx steers very similar to your savox servo (even on my hardwood floors). I'm sure the savox is stronger but mine certainly isn't as weak as your stock emaxx. Do you have your steering at 100%?

I understand you response. that's why I did state that the blue one is brand new and the tires were sticking to the hardwood. But this result is the same when the trucks are in the grass or any other high torque situation. So this was a good representation of real world scenarios. But this is a static test as well which only shows a portion of the difference.

+dropcorr , yes I painted the traxxas clear xmaxx body. sold the stock one. I have two custom painted bodies. And have one more clear body on back order.

Okay so I've been contemplating on what servo to get, I dont want to do any mods to the truck if I have to mod the servo I'm okay with that, here your using a savox 0241mg 1/5 scale servo, what I was looking at was getting the servo adapter #7749 and getting a savox sw1212sg servo, I just got my xmaxx and I'm having a hard time figuring this out because traxxas didn't put a traditional mounting system in the xmaxx and I do not want to use traxxas servos the stock ones on the slash 4x4 were okay enough in my opinion but for the xmaxx the 2085x is garbage from what I gathered and is getting a bec a necessity? And which bec can I get that I dont need to plug into a computer to get the 7.4v that these servos normally run at if there even is one. Please anyone give me as much feedback as they can I'm not a fan of hooking up a bec, but from what I read it's a game changer

The stock servo is going out you can tell an the savox one it's not all that one good hit an it breaks just like any stock traxxas servo

Traxxas servos are the worst the only two servos I run in my RC cars are Savox and Power HD.

I've had my xmas for 2 years now. Servo worked ok at first. Died quickly. This mod has been amazing since install. And I abuse it.
