Fun Fact: Before this movie was made, Magneto’s helmet in the comics was PURELY for decoration and had no use at all, but one of the writers David Hayter (aka the voice of Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid) suggested that Magneto’s helmet should protect him from all telepathic abilities. Because he actually asked a question the for some reason in over 30 years of comic history, none of the comic writers ever had an answer for, “What’s to stop Charles Xavier from just using his powers to stop Magneto during a fight?”.

yeah in the comics and cartoon, charles needed the helmet off eric aka magneto.. same for juggernaut, his half brother.. (weird enough they switch the ages of scott summers/alex summers the brother for movie reasons, why have no idea) nightcrawler/rogue are siblings..i know eird familiy reunion.. fun fact for the ogs of the stories would know this but: both logan/wolverine aka james howlett and steve rogers captain america both came many many years ago when magneto was young teenage boy to rescue him from the concentration came(which is the easter egg why, magneto was resciminiscing over logan military dogtags "he recognized the serial numbers")

@@WaddIes When Wolverine was created, his powers weren't what fans know them as today. He was said to have "natural-born speed, strength, and savagery" in his first appearance from 1974, but his healing factor, initially referred to as “fast-healing,” wasn't revealed until four years later in 1978. So Wolverine always had the Healing Factor but it was not revealed to the Team or the comic book fans till 4 years after his appearance, it was not created for the movie.

I love Laura's take on Magneto! This is one of the great "frenemies"!!! The X-Men movies are unique because there are lots of good guys AND bad guys, and they persist through the movies. The movie producers didn't go in the direction of "one main superhero" or "one disposable bad guy".

The nostalgia really hits when you see the high-tech, over the top intro. The little flashback to the concentration camp, the kid being split from his mom and that impressive display of power - it basically offers you the perfect explanation in regards to Magneto's motives. Regardless of the methods used, even if he ends up being the same as his childhood tormentors, he doesn't want mutants to end up in camps too. 6:24 If that's not a fantastic seat belt safety commercial, nothing is. It also shows us just how easily Logan can shake off an injury like that. It's quite heartwarming, how the professor Xavier is choosing to guide Logan to him, show him that kids are in a safe environment, instead of trying to overpower him, after Logan woke up. One of the best things this movie has done is show just how menacing and effective Mystique can be. The dick measuring contest between Scott and Logan throughout just hits all the right comedic spots. Early 2000s humor is somethin else, especially in superhero movies. Everyone really has cool powers and then there's freakin toad boy over there, spittin slime and tonguing his opponents 😂 26:30 worth remembering this little exchange "You know what happens to a toad when struck by lightning? Same thing that happens to everyone else." - okay Storm, okay 😂 The ending of the movie is quite satisfying and it makes it work well enough as a standalone. Naturally we all want to see more of the characters, see that incredible dynamic between Charles and Erik, Logan's snarky answers to everything. Thank you for the fantastic reaction ❤

But it makes sense for it to be Puberty; it is a very specific time when emotional stress is ALWAYS very high and unstable. Also Puberty isn't necessarily the absolute factor. A younger child or even a fully grown adult can have their Mutant gene activated by emotional and extreme physical stress. BUT during puberty is the most common. some Mutants NEVER manifest abilities. such as the character from the comics Grayden Creed, who is the son of Sabertooth and Mystique. Two Mutant parents and he never manifested any powers.

Hugh Jackman was not the first choice to play Wolverine Dougray Scott had been cast in the role but he was stuck doing Mission Impossible 2 (here in Sydney) as the filming was running over schedule. And so as "X-Men" had to start on its own schedule they got Jackman in. Also being an Aussie he thought a Wolverine was just a small type of wolf.

_X-Men_ first appeared as a comic in the 1960s. It was a time of _very_ overt ethnic tension in the US with civil rights marches taking place _constantly._ That's what they're intended to represent. Magneto is emblematic of Malcolm X and Xavier is emblematic of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

@@2323stickboy Yeah I agree. First, I don't want anyone to think I'm a Wolverine hater. I'm not; far from it in fact. I agree that he's every bit the bad-ass MOFO he's hyped up to be. It's just that ever since 2000, it's like Live-Action mediums want to push like HE's Me X Man. The most powerful, most important member. They even made an entire cartoon with the the entire X Men being secondary characters. "Wolverine and the X Men" as if he wasn't just another ordinary member. The point I like to get across is that compared to mutants like Rogue, Bobby, Scott, Storm and even Jean Logan is just cannon fodder that shits back and won't die. Scot and Storm could remove entire platoons of soldiers just by themselves. Bobby also isn't some slouch. The ultimate focus on Logan is fine, but not at the expense of those other mutants who make even Wolverine's awesome powers seem common place.

Wolverine was NOTHING to her. Cyclops can blast Wolverine into orbit. And Storm can literally bury his ass in a haul storm the size of basketballs. AND they don't have to be anywhere close to him to do it. He on the other hand DOES have to get close. There's a reason Scott is utterly unafraid of Logan. Because he KNOWS he can deal with him. In fact Cyclops at one point even removed one of Logan's hands. It's in the Age of Apocalypse Series. But you go on. Pretend like those movies were the perfect representation of X Men. Hey, Magy and Laura! The X-Men are Marvel Comics superheroes created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963. The film rights were sold to 20th-Century Fox studios in the 1990s. Therefore, no other Marvel characters could appear in them when the MCU came into existence later and nothing mutant-related could exist in the MCU. The X-Men movies proved team superhero movies were viable and are the reason we have an MCU and DCEU. One major problem with the franchise is that there was no plan going in to make a coherent saga so there are MANY CONTINUITY ERRORS! Another problem is that there is little FIDELITY to the comics other than surface level stuff and the franchise became a showcase for HUGH JACKMAN's Wolverine as the central focus; the comics are much more ensemble pieces. Wolverine is hugely popular among comic readers but the movies became largely his vehicle. When the franchise was rebooted with a younger cast to clear up continuity and fidelity issues, the only explanation for discrepancies between the two sets of films was that they were taking place in MULTIPLE TIMELINES. Despite the confusion, X-Men films are all very ENTERTAINING including the so-called duds and boast terrific action as well as INCREDIBLE CASTS. The duality between frenemies Charles and Erik is the core of these films. They are allegorical representatives of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. The action sequences are predicated on coordinating and nullifying powers which laid the foundation for the best superhero fight ever in cinema as it utilizes the same principles: the airport battle in "Captain America: Civil War"! Now that Disney owns the film rights, fans are excited to see Kevin Feige adapt them properly. As always, since these are films based on Marvel Comics, STAN LEE has a cameo in most of them. In "X-Men", he was a hot dog vendor on the beach when Senator Kelly emerges from the surf. The student who phased through the door when Wolverine first meets Xavier is Katherine "Kitty" Pryde and Rogue's role as Logan's mentee in the film was actually Kitty's role in the comics. Rogue is a flight-capable heavy hitting adult in the comics who acquired those abilities when she permanently absorbed Carol "Captain Marvel" Danvers' powers by maintaining contact too long! That incident stripped Carol of her memories and put her in a coma! X-MEN TIMELINES: Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP --> Origins ------------------------------------------------> X1 --> X2 --> X3 --> Wolverine ----------> New Mutants ----------------------> Logan Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP ----------------> Apocalypse --> Dark Phoenix ------------------------------------------------> Deadpool --> Deadpool 2 -----> DOFP Utopia Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> DOFP Dystopia It is advisable NOT to watch the films in RELEASE ORDER!!!!! Instead, follow this RECOMMENDED ORDER!!!!! It keeps the multiple timelines orderly. RECOMMENDED VIEWING ORDER: X-Men X2: X-Men United X3: The Last Stand X-Men Origins: Wolverine X-Men: First Class The Wolverine: Extended Cut X-Men: Days of Future Past: The Rogue Cut X-Men: Apocalypse X-Men: Dark Phoenix Deadpool New Mutants Logan Deadpool 2

Before Jackman was casted, Keanu Reeves, Johnny Depp, and Edward Norton were considered to play Wolverine. All 3 are nothing compared to Jackman.

Sadly everyone must face their own mortality. Jackman is already 55 years old and he can't keep up with the physical demands of playing the character forever. Wolverine will be recast one day.

I do hope Magy understood the yellow spandex joke 😉 (because she has seen the Deadpool & Wolverine teaser trailer) Admit it, Laura, you want Toad's powers - to jump & have a long tounge like a frog & spit slime that hardens 😂😜 Rouge's powers is actually pretty tragic, you would never be able to kiss, touch or hug someone without hurting them or worse, killing them.

Despite some inconsistencies as the franchise moved along, this is still such a great series. I think you'll have a lot of fun with it. Even the lesser loved installments are still a good time. Enjoy!

Once Laura got familiar with the camera and the format, she has become a force to be reckoned with. I can see why you picked her as a reaction partner, Magy. She was a bit dull and timid at the beginning, but now she firmly holds her own against you. I'm not picking favorites. That's impossible to do. However, the two of you are endlessly fascinating to watch - and that is why we have have seen these movies pick gems like the two of you to rewatch them with. You are both excellent reatresses. Thank you.

Yeah Charles and Magneto are the bitterest of enemies, yet the ONE person Magneto would kill LAST is Charles; IF he decided to kill him. Charles is the ONE person he respects MOST in the World. BUT he still won't let Charles stop him.
