That convoy scene with Mystique in the prison truck was taken from the animated short movie called Pryde of the X-Men...it was Magneto that was the prisoner and the original story Jean didn't become the Phoenix the entity took over her body as a vessel to battle a mad alien ruler from obtaining a powerful crystal that he could merge with and destroy the cosmos.

0:38 that's some rough de-aging but it was still pretty impressive for 2006. 1:40 what a heartbreaking exchange between father and son. Poor kid ended up mutilating himself when he had such a beautiful gift. 3:48 now that a solid burn! Scott may be grieving but he did make a good point. 5:00 Magy quoting Uncle Ben is so precious, the little inner nerd coming out ❤ 6:45 yea Rogue pretty much made up her mind on the spot when she saw the announcement. 10:17 talk about a kiss that makes your heart skip a beat! 11:43 Logan, the undisputed champion of drawing the wrong conclusions, after Xavier clearly explained to him why he had to put all those barriers into Jean's subconscious. 15:01 Laura in her mind: "Vengeance for all the times you confused me!" 😂 16:28 no waiting there, pants off Logan! 17:06 it's actually pretty satisfying to see how Jean was still present until the very end, at least a bit of her. She asked Logan to kill her twice. 19:08 such a desperate cry from Magneto, trying to prevent Jean from killing his best friend. 21:10 nobody liked that, Bobby acted really dodgy in this movie, ignoring Rogue one moment, then asking for her, comforting other people over her. 23:22 this is undoubtedly one of the best scenes in this movie, showing the audience just how much Erik cared for Charles. 25:43 after being a prisoner in a concentration camp, I don't think Erik would ever go any other way than total war against any perceived attempt to control him or his fellow mutants. 30:50 impressive display of power there, with the usual sarcastic quip from Magneto. 33:55 after that kick, there's no growing those back 😂 35:50 excellent callback to the scene from the beginning, Magy. 40:37 "Save me" instead of "Kill me", like she said the first time. That really broke Logan more than any other wounds she inflicted onto him. 42:34 can't really keep Magneto down, not even with the supposed cure. 43:50 you pretty much answered your own question here - the cure doesn't really have permanent effects, at least not for incredibly powerful mutants, like we saw in Magneto's case. You could argue that Jean's powers would return in time, along with the murderous personality. Thank you for the fantastic commentary and the emotional reaction ❤

Jean and Scott has a psychic bond with each other throughout the comic books is how she was able to overcome the Phoenix...their love helped Jean because the Phoenix got corrupted by human emotions and wanted more...but because he left the movie to do Superman returns is why he was killed off.

Does anyone else think that Laura looks a little bit like Halle Berry? Except for the hair, obviously. They've both got those big expressive doe eyes, the high cheekbones, a perfect nose, a sweet smile, the same skin tone. They could almost be sisters. She also has an extremely adorable accent to my American ears. And of course, Magy is an absolute doll in her own right, as well. A pair of heartbreakers, no doubt about it.

Loved this movie, but I love every X-Men movie lol! Very entertaining, action packed, and the character's stories were pretty good in the movie too. Really good acting all the way around too. I really don't have any complaints over any of the XMen movies, but I guess if I had to point out 1 thing about this movie that would have made it even better, is if they could have added about 15-20 minutes more to the story for some character/story development, and also maybe give you a little background on the kid that can cure mutations. Other than that, I'll give this a 9.5/10!
