When fans say that the x men are going back to the mansion, most of us didn't mean it literally. It means that the x men and their ancillary characters, villains and such, are going back to being just superheroes. During the Krakoan era, both heroes and villains became heads of state, leaders of a nation, and got to show dimensions and facets never before seen. Xavier, Magneto, Storm, even Apocalypse became three dimensional characters, mixtures of good and evil. The end of Krakoa signifies that the x men will be losing that depth, going back to mostly the one dimension--that of superheroes. To me, that's a loss and something to mourn. I'll probably follow the from the ashes stuff at least to some degree, but I fear it won't be as compelling as the Krakoan era.

I have no beef with Charles Xavier. All leaders have their flaws. There are times where you’re going to have to do the wrong things for the right reasons.He’s kind of like a true father. The things he (a father) will do and say will not be popular, not so fun and may even seem unkind, will all make sense in the future and you will come to appreciate him more. That’s how I see Xavier.
@newjumpcityjosh93337 ай бұрын
I think the point moving forward is that no one person(mutant) or small collective should be in charge and make majority of the decisions undemocratically. People have flaws therefore leaders will always have flaws however we are stronger and wiser when we work together so it’s better to have a rotating collection of leadership that’s elected by as much of the mutants as possible.

It was the most bizarre sequence of events. Didnt help that the illustrations changed too. Made it feel like a mashup of different storese. Exodus lashes out at Kafka for no reason. Apocalypse shows up to save Kafka and seemingly kills Exodus? Then Apocalypse lashes out for no reason and tries to kill Kafka? Then everybody gets PTSD from the pre-Krakoan era and tries to jump Apocalypse?? Somehow in the end, Exodus is alive and is treated like one of the good guys, and Apocalypse is now a villain again? This issue was so trash
@scottfitzgerald36277 ай бұрын
As an Apocalypse stan I find his misuse in most of HOX/POX frustrating. He had his history and supporting characters expanded in a very impactful way, but he himself spent most of his time in a supporting role off panel and that last fight sequence pretty much made it even more apparent that they just didn't know what to do with him. It's just an excuse to set up a replacement for Apocalypse rather than writing Apocalypse himself well. Disappointing.
@mb242447 ай бұрын
Krakoa would be dead without Apocalypse. He literally saved it through the crucible with Wrongslide. That was just a few weeks ago lol. He saved Storm, Sunfire and the rest of Arakko in Al Ewing's Genesis war. He did that by avoiding violence and embracing mutant magic. That was just a few months ago. Then he clearly stated his dream is not for mutants to simply "survive" through war/violence, but to "thrive." Again that was just a few months ago. And lets not even get into X of Swords, where he repeatedly showed its not about him. Seems like the writers REALLY wanted an outdated version of Apocalypse to return. And the way Exodus somehow ended up being one of the good guys here is hilarious. Terrible writing.

I do feel from his PoV his work done for Arrako & Krakoa is definitely not appreciated enough. In the new Krakoa seemingly we know almost all combative mutants left , so I doubt any person who knew Apocalypse was left there to even tell his truth. So I definitely can feel what Apocalypse was preaching.. Glad he went back to Arrako. Honestly my thoughts for him in this run was that he should've been treated as a Godfather figure. UNCANNY X-MEN #35 could be a Marvel milestone because its apparent meta-commentary addresses the genre's reluctance to evolve instead of Marvel's usual 'do not acknowledge - move on to the next thing' farewell. It critiques Krakoa's failure to revolutionize comic storytelling because people are not ready for change. The 'stupid' Apocolypse fight that comes out of nowhere, turning Xavier's school into a prison, the reversing dichotomy of Xavier and Magneto, the 'parents' being judged despite best intentions, and the X-Men being denied the 'Promised Land' like Moses are passive-aggressive commentaries akin to Millar's 'Fuck You!' moment in 2005's WANTED. Yet, Millar's climax was revolutionary for its time. And while reading Uncanny X-Men #35 evoked similar feelings, WANTED was a declaration of change, while X-Men's felt like aggressive progressive finger-pointing: 'We can't have this because the world sucks.'
@Popcultureguy30006 ай бұрын
I was with you until you brought up Wanted, that felt more like a fuck you to me, than to the industry itself. Maybe if Millar was a smarter less “dudebro” kind of writer the intent of the meta commentary would have been more apparent to me, who didn’t know that was supposed to be its hidden message the first time I read it. Instead it felt like he was just mocking superhero comics fans like me, who ever dreamed of reading lasting character growth. And to his assertion that mainstream superhero comics are a waste of time, I just have this to say: if Screaming Mimi and all the other Thunderbolts can become more more well rounded characters with the only one falling victim to the dreaded status quo was Baron Zemo once Busiek and Nicieza were done with them, well then I say any D-lister has the potential to become a great character, and not just villains, look what Ryan North was able to do to Squirrel Girl and Brain Drain in Unbeatable Squirrel Girl!

Good video!👍🏿 The House of X/Krakoa era is definitely an intriguing X-Men story arc which I'm a bit sad that it's finally over. To me, the epilogue was okay. I think I prefer the final battle with the X-Men vs. Apocalypse over the Phoenix vs Enigma/Cosmic Mr. Sinister battle since the Phoenix has been overused during the past several years. The Nightcrawler and Mystique part seems nice, Xavier and Magneto conversation about the future was fine and Xavier's mind prison loophole seems cool. I wasn't really feeling the whole X-Mansion being turned into a prison idea, but let's wait and see how that turns out.

This new podcast girl villain, Dr. Ellis- I was so disturbed by the 3/4 face panel you showed- her eyes must be really close together for this angle to be possible. The whole resurrection thing, maybe mutants can still be resurrected, maybe by other powerful mutants, but I think that maybe, just maybe, they could have resurrection in the form of technology or other things like from Mr. Sinister, or even Beast, because Beast was able to resurrect himself without The Five or anything else. Maybe they can work with that. Tell me what you all think.

Another explanation might be The Scarlet Witch tried to resurrect those 16.5 million too and when she did they began coming back as Zombies (Empyre tie-in) in what had to be the FUNNIEST F'ING part of the whole event because these Zombies happened to be Vegetarians, the invaders were made of PLANT MATTER 🤣, and the fight was over before even a single shot was fired. So those 1.5 million dead mutants might be the zombies created by The Scarlet Witch and in order to bring them back The Scarlet Witch would have to end the spell that resurrected them which she might not have the power to do because to even cast that spell Wanda needed a lot of forbidden dark magic.

I'm extremely disappointed with how they ended the Krakoan age. It started out so ridiculously well, and now, seemingly due to the MCU's influence, Marvel rushed to bring it to a close and very much screwed the pooch, so to speak. It's pretty sad, but I'm still really grateful for the initial Hickman Krakoan run, given that it was easily one of the best X-Men arcs ever written. That being the case, though, some part of me wonders if the end of this saga was always doomed to fail. Even if Hickman had stayed on for the full ride, I think the latter part of this age would probably pale in comparison, even if it was significantly better than what we got here. Is what it is, I guess. I suppose I'm fortunate for simply being alive in a time wherein I can complain about I wish my favorite comics were better. 🤷🏼♂️

But that' not who he was when he first went there or before it, even Genesis was like what the hell dud and was happy when war broke out on Okkara cause he returned to that. This is who Apocalypse is, and he always putts himself as head above all else. And you left out the part where yes Jean and Emma showed and said they are everything he wanted. But he ended by saying that his magic has brought us to this moment, but that it holds no sway, over this undiscovered country. Either way, I said from the jump he was playing the same game he did when he first appeared, just this time he did it through magic and even throw in a few new twists. But when he learned that they rejected is lessons, and way of doing things, worst of all that he was nothing more then a footnote. Oh boy did he go off. But 1 of the things I found off was he left and said he'll find a new heir to continue for the future. That it slipped through his fingers? One that doesn't sound like him, and two those in the White Hot Room have nothing to do with now or the future of Earth or Arakko. He still has those on Arakko that warship him and his ways, and he still has Earth's mutants do shape. So why bother finding an heir? 2 Krakoa and resurrection is suppose to be done, but their still doing it in WHR, say for resurrection which the guy said is done. It's just that it's suppose to be done, and it seems like they can go there whenever. So keeping this isn't really moving on from the Krakoa era. 3 they said they brought back all those dead from Genosha? Didn't they use all those dead to bring life to the past in Threshold. I mean Kitty played a big real in sending them back in time, even her father was one of those dead spirits that was used to form Threshold. So I'm confused by this part. 4 I wasn't a fan of them using different artist for like every couple of pages. The art was good, I'm just not a fan of doing that. Also; Azazel is Nightcrawlers father, Mystique used his genetic material and Baron Wagner. It's kind of a headache, but tactically all three are his father.

Looks like Clairemont's writing is still kind of stilted. Still, he's responsible for so much classic storytelling that could be built on for decades.

Yea…now back to status quo of mutants fighting mutants, while being hate upon by humanity. Dance monkey dance mentality Marvel has when dealing with mutants.

I’ll be honest I never liked the krokoa era. It felt too much like it was pro segregation. Mutants can only thrive with no humans. That’s a dark depressing anti diversity message. Plus mutant only nations always, ALWAYS end in tragedy. I’m not gonna miss krokoa.

@@jackwhitetron Rogue never got nearly as much respect as Jean and Storm that's the problem. She is always the objectfied play thing of writers and if not then she was shelved. Even her origins got retconned and butchered to service Nightcrawler. And Mystique is getting a solo before Rogue. Not fair at all.

This is the worst idea imo. It makes 0 sense and destroys/complicats the mutant population imo. On Mars/Arrako would have been so much cooler than the White Hot Room imo.. They destroyed both the Phoenix Force and the mutant population with this one. I stopped reading it

This ending flopped. The only good thing was Apokolypse becoming his old villainous self. I would have preferred that Charles Xavier had killed Moira and they all end up back at the X-Mansion and Mr. Sinister and Charles Xavier are the only ones who know about that time.

Sorry but except for the artwork which I enjoyed Uncanny 700 (legacy numbering) was BASURA....,👎🏾😡👎🏾 The only thing that had that dope, CLASSIC X-Men feel was when old school, survival of the fittest En Sabah Nur was going ham on EVERYONE. And I have to add that the SECOND Nightcrawler origin retcon is just as horrible as the infamous and reviled "Draco" retcon....😡 I liked it WAAAY better when his Dad was a German count that Raven had settled down with....hinting that Kurt came from German NOBILITY. They could've explored that aspect of his family tree and gone in an infinitely more interesting directions. Instead we get more agenda-driven nonsense....👎🏾
