When Magneto got killed I was shocked but not sad. When Gambit died, one of my favorite x-men since the 90s when I was a kid, I yelled “NO” with pain and anger in my heart. It felt like I lost a family member. I’m just glad this episode reminding me again why I loved Gambit so much when I was a kid. RIP hero.

In X-Men The Animated Series in the 90s, Cable went back in time and kidnapped Wolverine and managed to make an antidote to destroy a virus that Apocalypse made. Before destroying the virus, Cable said : “The names Cable, remember it, Apocalypse!” Coincidently, Cable's first appearance in X-Men the animated series was in Genosha when he first met Gambit who escaped from the Slave Island. Cable helped Gambit unlock his collar which allowed him to rescue Storm and Jubliee and the other mutants as well.

That scene back in episode 1, where Madelyne Pryor was using cerebro to invade Gyrich's mind, was foreshadowing this episode. Listen for the music and cable's voice. Back in the original series Apocalypse explained that time and thought are a unity and that is why psychics can see into the future just like what Madelyne was accidentally seeing through Gyrich's mind b/c of his bigger plan with Trask.

Cable did say “He” is here, right? So it's not Cassandra Nova. That leaves a lot of possibilities. Apocalypse, Sinister, Nimrod, Arcade, Ultron, the sentient dangeroom, Trask, Gyrick, and Fitzroy, are the first characters that come to mind. Best guess… Nimrod or sinister. Apocalypse wouldn't be so weak as to send a sentinel to raze Genosha if he deemed it needed to go. He would simply pull up with the pyramid and the horsemen and wreck shop.

Been an X-Men fan for 30+ years. This episode once again proves that at its best, this “franchise” is the best storytelling vehicle in all genre mediums. GoT, Star Wars, Dune, Lost, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Batman… they all lack several levels of complexity that X-Men is capable of when the right storytellers have their hands on these characters and themes. I will die on this hill. X-Men is THE best and the most important narrative in all of written and visual media.
