Ok so Bastions now been revealed as the big bad of X-men 97. The evil villains been working in the background and conniving and scheming towards his evil plans. The seasons showing so far that X marks the spot and I was blown away when I learned this little detail.
Why
Well Showrunner Beau De Mayos announced that Bastions in every episode except 3. He said Bastion has been manipulating things all along, and thus has been in every episode except for Ep. 3. Can you find him?
So guess what, I went back through the season and here's everytime that he appears in an episode.
The first of these comes when Jean...sorry Madelyn enters Gyrichs mind and she starts to uncover the secrets of his past.
Now this includes the key three characters for Bastions existence which are Gyrich, Trask, Mastermold and Nimrod. Bastion was fused from the latter two and at this moment we get such a cool detail. You can see Nimrods eyes which then change into Bastions.
Thats why a lot of the show intro scenes have had bastion and Mastermould because they were trying to hint to us that Bastions behind it.

I feel like they're going to incorporate the false flag event as Magneto dressed as Xorn, or at least playing off that part of Grant Morrison's run. I think it would be a missed opportunity to ignore Grant's run. Hopefully after this season they cover Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon. I want Colossus and Kitty on the team so bad

Okay, here’s a bonus one; and this actually appears in the opening credits of Episode 5 as well. But in the comics, Bastion is a combination of Nimrod - a hyper-advanced Sentinel from the future - and Master Mold, a Sentinel factory. Nimrod actually stands in a chest of a Master Mold in episode 6

I think this is all spot on. Not sure how they're going to get through Messiah Complex so fast, but I think following this season, Cyclops and Wolverine will be the way their characters were in Schism with Cyclops leading a team more militarized while Wolverine leads the school for young and displaced mutants. I also thing Jean will side with Wolverine while Cyclops will go off with Emma Frost. Plenty of drama there. Then Messiah Complex will lead to AvX, and then finish Season 2 off with Onslaught. Everyone, all mutants and human heroes, will come together to defeat it. Lastly, I think this first season will have those awesome moments from Fatal Attractions where Magneto (now under the control of nanites) will rip out Wolverine's adamantium, and Xavier will lobotomize Magneto (and will later be paid off in the Onslaught story line). Keep up the good work!

I think Paul is working from the MCU habit of primarily drawing from storylines from the late 2000s and 2010s (because the comics Avengers were less relevant before Bendis) while this show is skewing towards older stories from Claremont, Lobdell, and Morrison. With a dash of Hickman.

X- Cutioner Song saga is still my favorite X MEN cross over ever . I think thqt maybe why tey keep showing Calbe & Apocalypse fighting . In X- Cutioner Song saga you find out that when young Nathan was taken to the future he was cloned and Apocalypse forces stormed the place and took one of the babies and Apocalypse raised that baby . i STRONGLY believe theres a xmen vs Avengers either part of Secret Wars Or as part of xmen97 No WAY they throw soo many hints and breadcrumbs without actually doing it. Now maybe xmen vs avengers will be part of season 2 giving us a lil time to get to know the avengers involved. No way Disney doesnt strike in animated form OR in theatrical. Personallyi think they do a shortened version b4 secret wars which will combine forced eventually to fight the Kangs Leading to a soft reboot in the MCU which will have Avengers AND Mutants. Also Maybe they will do a BIGGER WAR in animated form where we have a whole season of Both sides fighting eachother until a greater threat down the line is revealed. Not to have that storyline done yet allows for Disney to Rack in the Billions sooner rather than later by doing a long detailed animated storyline while the MCU can use the characters from 20thCentury Fox in the Multiverse allowing the Favoritres to continue in Multiple projects leading into Secret Wars before the soft Reboot. DISNEY, Strike while the Iron is Hot/. this is LITERALLY the BEST TIME EVER with Foxes characters still around and Disney MCU are still around. DONT WASTE THIS OPPORTUNITY

My theory is that the Genosha massacre was just a back up plan for Bastion to capture Magneto. It's obvious he needs him de-powered and Storm diving in front of that bullet to save Magneto forced Bastion's hand and led to the X-Men figuring things out a little earlier than expected. Storm is going to naturally feel responsible for the carnage and eventually leave the X-Men to team with Magneto.

If they do Avengers vs XMen they should do it right. The only reason the Avengers won most of those fights is because Marvel didn't own the rights at that time. It's the reason they stopped making more mutants because that would just give Fox more characters. It's the reason the Inhumans got pushed to the forefront. If they redo it they should do it with the Mutants coming out on top instead of loosing to the Avengers Also Wolverine turned on the mutants which was very out of character for him
