It's an interesting phenomenon, I don't think it's a lack of quality as much as a lack of a big-picture vision linking it all together. I've kept up with a lot of the ongoing series and I like what each one is doing, but without the bigger story carrying everything it feels like the line is a bit stagnant. I'm hoping Sins of Sinister is the first step towards them bouncing back from that.

It was this run that literally got me back in Marvel and X-men books overall. I love the direction and now I am getting ready to read the whole A.X.E. storyline. To raise black children away from the hate of the world. For the dream of Krakoa I would pay any price. Wonderful series of essays! Loved Hickman's era and was really sad about his leaving. I jumped off of all X-Men titles after Inferno (I lost all confidence once the writers turned Moira into a robot. Destroying a character that was incredibly and beautifully reimagined) but thank you so much for reminding me of what a great ride those initial 2 and some change years were. You've made me realize that I shouldn't be sad that Hickman's vision spiraled into garbage under the hands of lesser creatives but to be thankful really that House and Powers of X even happened at all. That, for a moment, Hickman allowed us to see beyond the tired status quo of Mutant in-fighting in the face of global hate towards a world of new exciting united possibilities. Even as a motley crew. Even knowing conflict amongst such a wildly diverse, and often adversarial, group of mutants with drastically different views of what mutant sovereignty should/could be was inevitable. He gave me hope. He gave me Magneto, Xavier, and Apocalypse at a United Nations meeting being straight bosses. He gave me the Summers family as a beautiful slightly broken but ultimately loving family (INCLUDING Wolverine!). I never thought I'd ever see that. He gave me Emma as the hardcore badass mover and shaker that I've loved her as...but on the world stage. He gave me hard sci-fi universe building with the Phalanx. The mother effing Phalanx! It was the most exciting X-Men has been in a long long time. I can't see myself coming back to X-Men now that the quality is wildly inconsistent and the cohesion of overall story is in shambles. The greed of the X office to mine this resurgence as hard and as fast as humanly possible, flooding the market with mediocre X-titles that readers really couldn't keep up with or afford, at the expense of the universe is really what destroyed this era. With that being said, what an exhilarating read that initial reboot was. Excellent content.

Never comment on anything, but this is great. One video subscribe here. I enjoyed the art choices and information as well as the cuts and edits. Only constructive criticism would be the audio cues on the panel pop-ins (sounds like a little bit of feedback or static) was a bit distracting on my admittedly poor audio set-up in current form, but a cool idea that fits the theming. As long as this video is I'd watch it all over again at some point down the line as a super cut with even more examination and detail, perhaps about some of the historical X-Men connections Hickman was riffing on at key parts. Fantastic work!

I wouldn’t say one is better than the other, more link different flavors of a great concept. Just goes to show you how much range these ideas have!
@JonGarcia

I feel they started out alright, but then the studio pushed star power over story and essentially began repeating the same story themes with haphazard continuity. The world of mutants is much bigger than just Xavier, Magneto, Mystique, and Wolverine. Also, after 2 disastrous attempts at the Dark Phoenix Saga, which I adore the source, I'm not sure it should be attempted again. I'm curious to see if the Feige will start with or lead to the concepts of Hickman's Krakoa era. Regardless, plenty of stories to pull from or reinvent within the state of the MCU.

What I'm confused about is if this is a new universe or not. Moira talks to Xavier before he forms the x-men. So what is confusing me is if the past events actually happened or does Moira just remember it happening and no one else does?

It’s all the same series of events. Imagine Days of future past in looping form, with Moira as the main character instead of Kitty.

@@ForEveryKindofGeek thank you. Although it's not clear to me in days of future past either. It's just confusing that Moriarty told Xavier all of it before he formed the x-men so wouldn't they not do everything they did? I get what your saying because I know that jean is the tie displaced jean from all new x-men. But it's just confusing to me. My mind tells me that it's a different universe. Again if I was told everything going I'm going to do won't work I wouldn't go that route.

I think they probably decided that this reality was the best option up until a point, as long as they set up the Krakoa innovations behind the scenes.

Tbh this was a amazing way to reboot the entire series it’s time that the strongest species on earth stop being victims and be what they really are powerful strong but also now that they are their own country they have to follow rules other countries have or risk going to war with the world

Definitely still working on DoX, but between work and life stuff I didn’t really have time in the schedule for a full video in November. Already working on December’s, though!

Fantastic Video, you got my sub. HoXPoX is actually what got me back into comics after about a 6 year hiatus and while Hickman was still there I was truly enjoying it but now I once again find myself dropping more than half the xbooks off my pull list

Hi, every one, great effort for the channel maker by producting this documentary. I posses in my comic collection this Hickman´s miniseries. Is there any upcoming writings of Hickman on Marvel or DC?

I really dislike the multiple titles approach. Becomes both expensive to follow and convoluted
@ForEveryKindofGeek
@ForEveryKindofGeek Жыл бұрын
It can be expensive on the whole but I wouldn’t say it locks you into that approach either. My first time around I only bought a few titles and those did a great job of setting up the broader points. That said a lot of the earlier ETA’s being collected in compendiums which are way cheaper than buying every individual trade. They’re also more curated in those, too

To be honest I haven’t watch this video yet and for now have only skimmed because the beginning edit caught my attention. This editing is so cool and I subscribed because I know I’ll want to see more of it. You don’t get this much production in comic videos except for maybe Variant comics so this is a breathe of fresh air. Can’t wait to watch and see more content. Surprised you only have 4K subs.

Maybe this is a stretch but I feel like there are historical parallels between Krakoa and the real world Communist experiments namely USSR and Mao’s China. Nations established with good intentions and for justifiable reasons, but due to external attacks and infiltrations, internal conflicts of interest, and stacking ethical errors, eventually crumbled or morphed into a twisted behemoth of their original founding ideals. In the end, we all know the status quo will be re-established for the X-Books. My only hope is that it ends in a manner that doesn’t discredit the importance of oppressed people’s right to self-determinism and the struggle for autonomy.

Where is a good starting point to read xmen comics? don't want to watch to much of the video until ive caught up. always been a major xmen fan with movies/shows but no idea where to begin for comics
@ForEveryKindofGeek
@ForEveryKindofGeek 2 жыл бұрын
There are plenty of great points to start! If you want to jump right in you could definitely just follow what I covered in the video, starting with HoXPoX and moving forward. That said, plenty of people say classic X-Men starts with Giant-Size X-Men and Claremont’s run through the 70s and 80s.
