Diplomatic Clause,This clause is especially important if you’re an expatriate and may get transferred back to your home town .

Last time I came, I stayed at friend's house for 3 months. I found a job within 3 months and got my EP. Then I rent a single room. One year later, I found a boyfriend and saved the room rental cost. Then married and became Singaporean.

Is always good to do some research on accommodation rental before coming down to SG, saves you time to wander around which area to stay. Depending on your working location and budget, there are many options available. SG is a very small country, most HDB housing is close to public transport, eateries, supermarket, or shops, etc. Glad to see that both of you have settled pretty well in Singapore!!

I am a landlord in Singapore. The agent's service fee is paid on my side not the tenant?
@BiscuitGodHK2 жыл бұрын
I believe this is only the case when the rent/price of property is above certain benchmark?
@chee-foongchan79302 жыл бұрын
Yes. I am both a tenant and landlord in SG. Agent fees are paid by the landlord. Usually, 1 month of rent for a 2-year contract. I have never paid agent fees as a tenant.

My rental is also around 3k, and I didn't pay any commission to agent. The agent has to get from the landlord....Has anything change recently?

Why did you have to pay the agent commission? The agent commission is to be paid by the landlord. Please confirm with your property agent.

Singaporeans will have $700-1600 GST cash rebates for years. If GST increased by 1%, then you pay extra $100 for every $10000 spent. But you get $700 cash means your first $70000 spending is offset for the 1% increment.

Thanks for sharing particular Ireland migration topic. If you don't mind the weather, Ireland is a very good place to raise a family (eg good education). IT specialists should not have problem to move around in next couple decades. Their skills are essential to all businesses. So you can pretty much plan for your next move :-) The only surprise is you did not mention all relocation costs were picked up by your company. Hope they are not out of pocket.

@@BiscuitGodHK not exactly…If there’s only a landlord’s agent (i.e. the tenant contacted the landlord’s agent on his/her own), the landlord pays the landlord’s agent one-month commission, which he/she keeps. The tenant pays no commission. Your case in Singapore is called co-broking . If the renter has a tenant’s agent who assisted the tenant and represents his interest, the landlord pays the landlord’s agent one-month commission. The landlord’s agent then splits the commission with the tenant’s agent. The tenant pays no commission.

@@yukichoi1637 It's fair enough for different market practices to exist in a city. Ours may not be the most economical but since we have settled, we would take it as a lesson :)
When you see this! It means you are good luck! Read this when you go home! Then bad luck will leave! (In Jesus’ name, all things which have been stolen by the devil will be returned to me, all things which have been cheated by the demons, will be returned to me, all things that have been imposed on me will be all taken away, and I command you to get out of me!) You have to say it out loud! No need to be very loud, but have to say it out! Remember it the devil, they are very cunning! Remember this when you are in trouble!
