She was born in America, and some of these immigrant parents are working all day and dont really have the time to teach their children or the money to pay for classes. H yes, i know, but early years Chinese will be quickly replaced by english then english becomes dominate. if she is the first child in her family, she probably can speak very limited chinese, but if she is the second child, even during childhood, chance is she will speak english with older sister or brother during grow up. it all depends on if her parents encourage chinese speaking in household or not. i have two nephews, the older one can understand chinese but never response in chinese, the younger one, totally lost chinese language. it also depends on if parents can speak fluent english, i have a friend, she and her husband came to States under age 6, their daughter cannot speak even A singe word of Chinese. one day, the parents weren't at home, daughter was hungry, but she didn't know how to tell grandma she is hungry because grandma doesn't speak english, she has to wait till mom back home.. she is like 6's or 7
