Great comparison. I'm a P3dv4 flyer. Years of investments and a 350+ gb install will keep me there most likely. I've been simming since the Apple 2e and at one point even was a pit builder with thousands invested. I never understood the war between the two, only saw the ignorance of one user saying their choice was better based solely on it was the one they too had invested so much into. Not much different than FS9 users vs FSX users not so long ago (and some still prefer it). To each their own I say but opinions should be honest. You did a great job remaining very unbiased in this video. Likewise I must say my .02 cents but with only this video as my X-plane reference. Here tiz: 1) My addons and PTA settings make the night far better than what I saw for the p3d portion in this video and X-Plane still blew it out of the sky. Simply gorgeous. 2) I have every cloud, weather and freeware for clouds and sky and again, X-Plane looked better in my opinion. 3) The Map... just wow. Every time I buy a new version of P3d I am always sad that they don't touch the awful map. It's the worst. Having to navigate it by moving the mouse to the edges to get the arrow feels ancient and it's probably the #1 thing that needs improvement (massive improvement). 4) The controls for Xplane looked great. I loved the UI, but I don't know enough to compare the two since P3d can be tweaked and user coded to pull off much more than I would ever do in the UI. P3d controls xml does have issues. Always has, such as resetting all your assignments at times on it's own. My research makes me believe the controller somehow changed due to loss of connectivity while the sim was running. In any case it can create hours of rework if you're doing what I do (too much to type). Everything I saw in Xplane impressed me beyond expectation and just heard Xplane released a beta with lots of VR support. I use the Oculus Rift and it's beyond words in P3d. Unless the devs of the majority of my addons all of a sudden gave free transitions from P3d to Xplane, I'll be staying with P3d. Several thousands of dollars and no dollar value on time invested. It's been amazing to see the major turn around this last year alone with big addon devs finally supporting Xplane. With VR and all the new things we've ALL seen the last few months alone makes this an incredibly exciting time to be a simmer of any platform. Maybe someday one will buy out the other and combine all the great things from each and really rock our world. Until then though it's clear that having competition out there is keeping them both working hard for us!

Holy cow the engines on that a320 model look huge. If they were actually that large maybe the a320 would have better climb performance. Had to look it up, it's the a320neo with two engine options from cfm and pw. They are bigger.

Just to mention one tiny little thing, on the a320 during the preliminary cockpit setup, you dont need to turn the packs off, I saw you turned off the packs and turned pack1 on again after APU was available, regardless of this action APU runs at high flow on ground. Only during the take off to optimise performance you may go for a packs off takeoff and then once you bring the thrust levers back to climb detent you may switch pack 1 on and then couple of seconds later you may switch on pack 2. Hope this helps

Correction: The packs were off when you powered up, this is not the normal configuration the overhead panel would be at during that stage

Hi my friend. Great video again and some really good tips. I have X-Life DeLuxe and have also had certain issues with strange vectoring. Especially in mountainous areas, like Innsbruck or Alaska. One thing you could have done is letting X-Life handle it all the way. That's the only way to show both good and bad things. Well I know it wasn't a review, but a great tutorial. And you are absolutely super at that. Keep it up Osamah.

Btw, KPHX does not use runway 8 or 26 for departures or they don't use them as often. The runway that is mostly used for takeoff is 7L and sometimes 7R for cargo aircraft. 8/26 can be used when landing times are not busy

In simbrief you can set the fuel to be read in KG, so you don't need to do a manual calculation

Instead of dividing the fuel figures by 2.2 to convert it from Pounds to Kilograms, just select use 'Kgs' for the Units on the Simbrief tab before generating the flight plan. Easy

Awesome video again sir! Looking to use ATC deluxe and this is perfect tutorial. I found it interesting that you have spoilers armed for takeoff. Haven’t seen this in the Boeing 737 checklist, unless I’m wrong? Is this an Airbus thing? I haven’t flown an Airbus yet.

Your concerns about incorrect altitudes are not founded due to your being given a discretion clearance. Operationally speaking you should wait until TOD and then start your descent at 2000 ft./ minute. That puts you in the correct location for further descent and approach clearance. Otherwise this program seems to do a pretty good job. The cabin volume and announcements are too loud and intrusive and are really fake immersion as you can't hear those on the flight deck unless you are monitoring them. Hi i purchased deluxe version and am having problem with LIVE ATC. I see planes coming and leaving but my top buttons for ATIS DEPARTURE GROUND and CLEARANCE are off can not click on them they are grey color. I tried to change airport like Munich and other recognizable airport from x life map but same thin. I have traffic but atc is off . What's going on with this add on? Why my ATC option is gray and not working ? I purchased from SimMarket and got serial so its not free version

I'm new to X-life so bare with me. After I fill out the flight plan and file it with ATC, and export it to the C1000, when I click on the PFD of the G1000 the X-Life panel drops out and I don't know how to restore it. WTF! One would think this would be mentioned in the Quick Start Guide.

What happens if you fly VATSIM, select and ILS runway for arrival, but then on the way is told a different runway to land on? Can I just enter the new runway into the FMC and reactivate the STAR/RWY without the LEGS being messed up? Or will I have to stitch the LEGS together again to remove any discontinuities?

HI Q8! Great videos as usual! I just got X Life Delux and had an issue with importing my flight plan to the ATC. Errors kept poping up. Both airports were supported by X Life and I am using latest navdata from Navigraph. My guess is that X Life uses old AIRAC cycle and navdata. Did you have to updat Navdata in X Life? Thanks.

Nah, had to stop using the default 773, moved into Zibo 737 and ALL of the issues went away. The FMC resets when you land. Thanks.

There were other aircraft around me. You can use the radar to check for nearby traffic. There were 2 aircraft waiting for departure as I came in to land as well.

When I installed X-Life, before I even enabled any of the settings, X-Plane 11 lags HORRIBLY, and I don’t know why. I have X-Plane 11 with medium settings, and I have an i7-6700k, 16GB ram, and a GTX 1080. Is it just me?

I thought you turned the AP off but the plane came in on LAND 3 and auto flare on, bug? I also have a few crashes on XPlane 11 after I installed the pushback mod so got rid of it, things seem ok now but of course it could of been something else. Regards

I did not take notice of that. I am not sure if it is a bug. The approach phase didn't activate either until after I actually landed.

Yes I noticed that as well, very strange. I have the JD320 but do not fly it, as for me it is quirky. In XP I normally fly the FF757 or in P3Dv4 the PMDG 737 NGX. Anyway thank you for the video, I do like your reviews as they are impartial and informative. Regards.

Hello Osama. Great video. I have questions of a problem that I am facing right now with this plug in. I have the deluxe version as you do. the recebt cycle in my nav data is 1709. The problem that I am having right is that when I send the flight plan to ATC it shows me a flight plan error: Please check what installed NavData cycle is the same for: x-life, Aircraft FMS, Flight Planner.I contacted the people from JAR design and they told this: You need be sure what you use the same cycle for x-life (you may check it on it flight plan widget) > not sure how to do this or what it means. Also on the same email they said: Next, you need be sure your flightplan is well prepared, have true format and use points form the same cycle.Before I forget: the flight plan was from KSFO-KLAX and I got the flight plan from Simbrief with the same cycle and did the same steps your did in this video. I really appreciate if you give me some ideas on how to make this work.Thanks!

Thank you for reaching out. You will need to update the navdata X-Life avdata. If you browse to x-life folder, you will find it. Or you will need the GNS430 folder in your x-plane custom data folder.

I noticed at 10:40 you set flaps to 1 but you did not enter T.O. trim and left it at 0.0 Curious if you checked the airplane's weight and balance at all, or if you just always ignore that? I'm not exactly sure where that info is located for the A320. The JaR A330 has a load sheet which tells you the T.O. trim.

Why autobrake on MED and not LOW? Salt Lake City is only 1,300 meter high (is that a good reason) and the runway is wet and long enough.

A real A330 (not A320) pilot told me that even for the big bird they use only LOW because MED is too hard. And it's not good for the brakes if MED is used at each landing. In your video you were at 70kn without the reverse! You didn't notice it but all your passengers were pushed forward ;-)

Austem Nornally the SID is determined during the flight planning phase. The STAR is provided by ATC but normally pilots can anticipate it.

No you will need to upgrade. There is a small fee, but XP10 will not work in XP11 version for the JARdesign.

so q8 as i tested a lot of things its almost impossible to make a flightplan if you do not use the jarproducts as you cannot import your flightplan. Putting it in manually causes a lot of problems it simply doesnt recognize the waypoints

roland rayar X-Plane ATC doesnt work. Try flying from or to LOWI and you are going to end up in the mountaines. When getting to your destination you might circle the airport for hours and not landing, if you get to land good luck on taxiing to the gate. That's why X-Life was created, and also for the AI traffic.
