For quite some time I have wanted to interact with ATC but there are not too many people available to properly coach the process. I figure perhaps the best way to start is using a plugin like X-Life. Problem with add on is that flight plan does not support adding SID and STAR explicitly, has a placeholder as exact words SID and STAR. So planing the exact runway for departure and arrival is not there. Not sure why that is, as for example simbrief allows for a full path.

Ich hab mir auch jetzt Xlife 4 geladen und alles so gemacht wie du aber bei mir sind alle Flieger weiß. Hin und wieder ist einer dabei der dann ne Bemalung hat aber 99% sind weiß. Was ich halt nicht weiß ist ob XLife beim starten automatisch geladen wird oder ob man es jedes mal manuel starten muss. Zudem wenn ich diesen GNS430 Ordner, den es bei mir nie gab, erstell und da den aktuellen AIRAC 2005 reinpacke, stürzt Xplane beim starten von XLife sofort ab Beim start von XP11 sagt Xlife auch immer er nutzt die Daten 1201 oder so. Die Basics die halt dabei sind nicht aber den 2005. Scheint er gar nicht zu erkennen

In general that's not possible afaik. The only aircraft I know that have a usable and properly working "save in flight" function are the Toliss Airbusses, and maybe the ZIBO 737-800X (but I've never tried it in the ZIBO).

I used both and WT3 is shit overrated. Eats FPS and the atc is bare-bones compared to X-life pro. X-Life felt more refined in terms on airport movements.

So I bought the deluxe version, is it normal that the AI traffic doesn't talk and also the pilot's voice is not hearable? At LSZH I get weird taxi instructions, missing taxis, also it doesn't show, which runways are in use. That's a bit odd for me. I do have the LSZH scenery. All I want is ATC that works, AI traffic that reacts to my plane, and that ATC works for me and AI traffic with all voices hearable. Seems like this is not my final solution.

It seems like generic AI that doesn't need prior knowledge of the airport should be doable. I'm not a big fan of only having specific airports. I'm trying to learn how to fly small aircraft at local airports. There's only 2 towered airports I know of within 50 miles of my home town, and they're both tiny regional airports that won't be covered by anything like this.

Maybe check out Traffic Global, it's payware but covers nearly every airport on the planet, also with GA aircraft.

Hi, thanks for the well thought out tutorial. I've just installed the latest version of X-Life Deluxe in X-Plane 11.41. Everything works but the ATC window does not auto-hide even when the auto-hide setting is enabled. Did it ever happened to you? Thanks in advance for any tips you migh have.

I haven't been using X-Life deluxe for some months now, but with the version I used back then (v280719 I think) I never had that issue. With the mouse cursor not on the X-Life window it did hide after some seconds.

Might very likely be an issue with Vulkan. I think I read somewhere that the aircraft models aren't yet compatible.

Hi Simulation Channel Deluxe. I, today, have installed and run XLife for the first time and it went awesome on KLAX and KSEA airports. Everything was perfectly aligned on default XPlane scenery/airports. However, at OMDB (Dubai) I found a huge offset. I mean planes were landing and departing slightly off the runways. It was looking like the whole airport was moved slightly towards the left and thus some aircrafts were parked away from the gates and some were half way through to the terminal building and some parked on the roof of terminal :)). I then tried to installed OMDB freeware scenery from ‘Airport Maps’ on JarDesign webpage (as you shown in this tutorial) but nothing changed. Do you know how to fix this problem? Thanks.

Then the ground routes are somehow misaligned. It can be fixed via the Airport Editor, I might do a tutorial on that as well at some point.

Yeah one has to be very careful with the txt flight plans to not get errors. Let's assume departing EDDL and arriving EGLL, the txt file must be named EDDLEGLL.txt. The content is EDDL SID *the route* STAR EGLL. For the route I would suggest simBrief. When you have direct-to waypoints without airways, there has to be a DCT between them. So for the EDDL-EGLL it is: EDDL SID MODRU Z717 GOBNO UZ717 MAS UM617 SOGRI UL608 SUMUM L608 LOGAN STAR EGLL For KDTW-KEWR for example it is: KDTW SID ESSBE DCT SLT STAR KEWR

I don't think so. X-Life uses its own integraded flightplan library that can't be extended afaik. Or do you mean the flightplan for YOUR own flight that you have to enter?

@@tommysallstedt4122 Haha okay ;) Well there is no option to directly import the simbrief flightplan into X-Life, but you can just copy the flightplan string as text format (without SID and STAR names), paste it in a text editor and save the file as "DepartureICAO""ArrivalICAO".txt. Let's for example take a FP from EDDL to EDDH, the simbrief output looks like this: MEVE3T MEVEL L179 OSN M170 BASUM Z78 WSN T903 RIBSO RIBS4A. So the text file will be called EDDLEDDH.txt with the following content: EDDL SID MEVEL L179 OSN M170 BASUM Z78 WSN T903 RIBSO STAR EDDH. If there is no airway between waypoints, e.g. BASUM WSN, then you have to insert a DCT in between, so it reads BASUM DCT WSN. Then you have to put the text file in the plugins/X-Life/flightplans (I think it's called) folder. Then X-Life can access it from the ATC FP menu when you click "Import plan from text file". Hope it helps.

When you purchase X-Life Deluxe, then the basic ATC will work with the traffic and also give advisories on the ground. I did never use X-Life free, so I don't know what happens without ATC. X-Plane's default ATC can't recognize the AI aircraft.

Yeah X-Life ATC uses the default Windows speech synthesis engine. You might try installing different voice sets for that, but it won't improve by much I'm afraid.

It generally runs at 79% when I'm parked at an airport and 98% when I'm flying, and when I turn on X-Life it becomes nearly unplayable, I don't think there's anything I can do about it unfortunately...

As I said in the video X-Life costs me 2 FPS maybe. With complex airliners I usually get 30-40 FPS, you can see my hardware and graphics settings in the description.
